Frau Hulda Kant (a.k.a. The Madam, The Donna, The Queen)

Hulda Kant is not a Reiklander; she was born in the Southern City-State of Nuln to merchant parents. Sadly, her parents were killed by Beastmen on what was supposed to be a routine trip between Nuln and Wissenland and the poor girl, hardly five years old, was kidnapped by her parents' creditors and sold into prostitution.
The next 11 years of life was not easy for Kant. She was put up at a tavern-cum-brothel in Weissbruck and as a childwhore, she was often roughed up by her customers. At puberty, despite her maltreatment, she blossomed into a beauty, inheriting her mother's flaxen hair and father's ice blue eyes. This only contributed to her physical abuse at the hands of others as she was forced to entertain many customers a day, sometimes so many it was just a blur of faces to her.
Her torment finally came to an end one day whilst she was entertaining a customer at the premises owned by her employers. Inebriated, the drunk attempted to take her there and then in plain view of the entire crowd. A handsome stranger put a stop to that with a few sharp words and, after those words failed, a very sharp blade. None too happy with the turn of events, Kant's owners tried to make the stranger pay for his deed - which he happily did by buying out Kant's contract for quite a ludicrous sum for a common whore. On the spot. Her benefactor, Oskar Daubmann, marched the 16 year old out of the Happy Girl, turning back only once and promising Kant that one day, this place and all within it will answer to her.
Daubmann inducted Kant into his smuggling ring, making her one of his inner circle. He found Kant had a gift for weaseling information out of even the most reluctant targets, making use of her good looks and seductive prowess. At his request, the Tilean Frank Gotti taught Kant how to handle a weapon while Roger Klopp, Daubmann's book keeper, taught her the ins-and-outs of letters, numbers and business, illicit or otherwise. Kant proved an apt pupil and is one of the few people in Reikland that Daubmann views as his intellectual equal.
Many years later, the SchwarzeNägel was founded after Daubmann and his associates ousted the rival gangs out of Weissbruck. Part of that ouster was the takeover of the Happy Girl, the former brothel where she was once bonded to. Daubmann kept his promise to her. She had choice words with her former employers. They lived, now her fearful lackeys and they rarely speak. Some say this is because their voices raised several octaves higher after Kant removed certain parts off them. Kant despised the Happy Girl and had it torn down and rebuilt to something more discreet and more suited to her tastes. The Mermaid would be mostly underground, access granted only to select clientele, while its upper floors would front as a posh dining house catering for the wealthier crowd. Kant would reign as the Madam, answering to no one but Daubmann himself.

Coming into her late thirties, men would still lust over Kant. Svelte of body and of fair visage, the Madam is still a great beauty despite the odd wrinkle.

Like Oskar Daubmann, and at his perogative, Kant was educated by Roger Klopp in the subject of literacy and business acumen. She proved an apt pupil, easily grasping concepts the majority of Imperials would struggle at. A savvy businesswoman, some Imperial merchants speak in very hushed whispers of Frau 'Cunt' muscling into their markets - there were far louder whispers before Daubmann caught wind of the nickname. "No one disrespects the Donna", the tongueless merchants will tell you.

History

Daubmann rescued Kant from a would-be public rape and subsequently turned her into a queen of the criminal underworld. He views Kant as his protege and is proud of how far she has come since her rescue.
Kant considers Daubmann to be one of the few truly trustworthy men she knows. As such, she does not shy away at his touch. Kant also believes she owes much to Daubmann for rescuing her and giving her a place in his criminal empire. She adores the man but whether romantically or as a father figure, and with the rumours circulating, that part of their relationship is unclear to observers.

Kant often calls Daubmann "Pepper" in private, referring to his graying hair and the fact the first smuggling run he took her on involved smuggling peppercorns from Khuresh via the Weissbruck Canal.
Daubmann never refers to any other woman as 'Milady' but Kant.

At the behest of Oskar Daubmann, Gotti trained Kant to defend herself. He developed a strong fatherly bond with the young woman.
On Kant's part, while initially terrified of the big Tilean, she warmed up to him after numerous instances of Gotti protecting both Kant and Daubmann. He is one of the few men she permits to hug her and she truly enjoys the stories he tells of his old adventures.

Gotti calls Kant "Donna ", a Tilean form of address for a woman of noble blood. The nickname has caught on with some of the lower ranks.
Kant calls Gotti "Zio" at his request. It means "Uncle" in Tilean.

Relationship Reasoning

Although their initial relationship started at the behest of Oskar Daubmann, Gotti finds himself enthralled by the young girl's wit and beauty, but not in a lustful way. Kant, who barely remembers her father, adopted Gotti as her father figure, someone always looking out for her.

Falko has attempted to bed Kant more than once. So far, all he has received for his troubles is a tight slap and a stern warning not to try again lest Kant tells Zio Gotti what transpired. Still, Falko knows Ranald would favor him if he manages to win over a woman like Hulda Kant - a great beauty with a ferociously intelligent mind.
Kant loathes Falko. The man has touched her more than once and tried numerous times to do so again even after a physical and verbal warning. She is tempted to report this to Frank Gotti but fears what her adoptive Uncle would do should he get wind of this. Falko does make the gang handsome profits from the gambling dens and she is reluctant to cost Daubmann a competent follower just because of her discomfort. As such she maintains a civil if frosty demeanour when dealing with him publicly.

At Daubmann's behest, Klopp tutored Kant the same way he tutored Daubmann. Kant proved to be as apt a pupil as his first student and Klopp takes great pride that both his students are now underworld royalty. Kant is one of the very few people that Klopp publicly displays some affection for.
Kant adores Klopp almost as much as she adores Daubmann. He reminds her of her merchant father, harsh yet caring, and wise and learned. Klopp was also the one that helped Kant overcome her mental scars, something that even Daubmann found difficult to do. Often visiting him at his apartment, the two enjoy each others company.

Like Daubmann, Kant refers to Klopp as "Professor". He does get slightly irritated at this though. He much prefers it when she affectionately calls him "Opa", Grandfather.
Klopp refers to Kant as "Biene", his busy, little Bee.

Kasper came into Kant's employ when Kant nearly ran the poor girl over while travelling in her coach. Pitying the Middenlander and empathizing with her distrust of men, Kant employed Kasper to attend to her and assist her with the administrative duties in running her business.
Kasper views Kant as a formidable woman and wishes to be closer to her, wanting to be part of the Queen's inner circle.
