The Turochlitan Religion

Slann Lord Merestar and his allies founded the now lost Kahoun of Turochlitan to provide a home where humans, under supervision of the First could learn to know and worship the Old Ones.   Turochlitan lasted for about 250 years. The supervising Skinks opted to gradually cede their control to human leaders. They also let the humans worship the Old Ones with different names and faces, allowing them to view the gods in forms warmbloods could understand and relate to better.   This is how the Chaos gods were able to corrupt the process. With the help of Darfiel of the Dark Mirrors, Thazerick of the Twisted Winds, and Locklirist of the Hated Lash, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, and Khorne sneaked in under different names and faces.   (It is still unclear why Nurgle and Korshalork of the Putrid Waves chose not to participate).   These new faces were more subtle and less overtly violent than the Chaos gods are generally known for.   Slaanesh took the name "Phidas" and focused more on greed and avarice than lust and violent passion. Phidas' followers infiltrated the priesthoods of Potec and Tlazcotl.   Tzeentch took the name "Greymoria" and focused on quiet acquisition of mystical power and darkness than riddles and mind games. Greymoria's followers infiltrated the priesthoods of Huanchi and Tepok.   Khorne took the name "Maylar" and focused more on encouraging general strength rather than worrying about taking skulls or blood as trophies. Maylar's followers infilitrated Turochlitan's tiny army.   Together, Phidas, Greymoria, and Maylar poured their blessings into the fallen priestess Kayishen and used her as their puppet ruler of Turochlitan. Kayishen did not last long in power, eventually drawing the full wrath of Slann Lord Merestar.

Structure

The original hierarchy was the Skink Priests directing things from the top, who had Human Priests of the Old Ones reporting to them who appointed worker and soldier leaders from among the strongest and smartest humans who then carried out the day-to-day affairs of Turochllitan.   The Skink Priests tried to emulate the Slann by issuing broad statements and commands and letting their underlings handle the details with minimal micromanaging.   The Humans were expected to do nothing more than gather or create food, clothes, and shelter to survive and worship the Old Ones.

Disbandment

Slann Lord Merestar and his army who crushed Kayishen's little coup and exterminated every human in Turochlitan whether they profused belief in the false gods or not.   Merestar believed the Turochlitan experiment was an abject failure but he did not give up on the idea of working with the humans somehow, he just believed that mimicking the form and function of a Lizardmen Temple City was not a feasible means to do it.   The old Turochlitan religion is dead, both the version the Merestar tried to build and the one Kayishen tried to build. The only remaining remnants are the small amounts of Turochlitan humans that the vampire Lord Renliss was able to call back to the world as undead. While they ostensibly serve Renliss, they still plot and scheme to serve the "True Old Ones", aka "Slaanesh, Tzeentch, and Khorne", especially Kayishen.
