Kroxigor Species in Warhammer Fantasy, Scale Universe | World Anvil

Kroxigor

Kroxigors are a subspecies of the Lizardmen or First Children of the Old Ones as they prefer to call themselves.   It is common in published GW work that Kroxigor are more lizard than man, and many say most Kroxigor cannot talk. I prefer to make them more human. They are simple but they can and do talk (though they sound a bit caveman-like in their diction). While rarely clever, they have depths of wisdom, from time to time, Kroxigor can have surprisingly deep insights.   It makes better prose that way.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Most Kroxigor stand roughly 9 feet feet tall when standing fully erect and are as broad as a young ogre.   Kroxigor have long muscular tails and are about 13 feet long nose to tail. Unlike Sauri and Skinks, they can weaponize tailslap. On the tabletop, as many "Stomps" are actually tail slaps as much as they are foot stomps.

Genetics and Reproduction

Kroxigors reproduce asexually like most of the First. Kroxigor will periodically emerge from spawning pools, usually along with many Skinks, on rare occasions in all Kroxigor groups.   While Skinks may occasionally spawn singularly. Solitary Kroxigor spawnings are unknown that the mighty Kroxigor hero Nakai is rumored to have been a singular spawning, no one knows for sure as Nakai's origins are shrouded in legend, no one is sure which pool or

Growth Rate & Stages

Kroxigor emerge from their spawning pools in adult bodies, born with a very basic vocabulary and advanced instincts. They also are born with an instinctual deference to Skinks in general and a fierce loyalty to their Skink spawning brothers who rely heavily for the first decade or so of their life. Relative to Skinks and Sauri, Kroxigor are mentally far simpler. While simplers beings tend to mature faster than more complex beings, Kroxigor are an exception. They need to be taught a fair bit by their Skink brethren and are slow learners compared to other First.     Skinks have be taught greater language skills, how to read, how to fight, and how to use tools. Skinks are fast learners in general. Within the first few years after emerging from their spawning pools, their learning ability is extremely accelerated. If humans could witness it, they would blown away by how a Skink can learn in one year what would take a young human a decade or more to master Skinks are born with adult bodies. Typical skinks have a maximum life span of about eighty years under optimal circumstances (though few die of old age in Lustria). Skinks don't show much visible signs of aging till roughly their fiftieth year and they rarely show noticeable signs of impaired physical abilities until well into their sixth decade.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Much like Sauri, Kroxigor are evolved from crocodiles. Unlike Sauri, Kroxigor are not obligate carnivores. They prefer meat and fish, but they do not require it.   Many Skinks claim this is a sign of the wisdom of the Old Ones that they made Kroxigor this way since Kroxigor require a lot of food.   Kroxigor are hungry boys and will not turn their noses up at meat, fish, grubs, fruit, vegetables, grain, insects. Almost anything Skinks or Sauri eat, Kroxigor will eat. They care little if the food is raw or cooked.   Food is a big part of Kroxigor culture, such as it is. Wise Skink leaders use communal meals to help Kroxigor form social ties with First outside of their spawnings.
