Chameleon Trails

The Chameleon Trails are the eastern counterpart of the Temple Trails on the western slope of Mount Klodor.   Due to it's geography, it is very difficult for enemies of Klodorex to even reach the eastern slopes of Mount Klodor, much less ascend the mountain from the east.   For their part, the Lizardmen of Klodorex don't often desire to head east of Mount Klodor. If they desire to travel to other parts of Lustria, they will usually swing around Mount Klodor rather than climb over it, more often than not heading south.   Because the eastern switch back trails are not used often and they are a low security risk, the trails are not particularly well maintainted or patrol. The switchbacks are steeper and more difficult to ascend or descend, generally only used in (so far hypothetical) emergency situations. The planned hypothetical uses are needing to sneak in reinforements from Spektazuma or Tlanxa or to evacuate the Slann in the event that Klodorex actually falls to invaders.   Rather than rely on patrols and fortifications to defend the Chameleon Trails, the switchbacks are defended by stealth. As the name suggest, the switchbacks are camoflaged. In this case the camoflage is primarily from strategically grown foilage, but this is enhanced with some passive magical effect to cause casual onlookers to avoid seeing the trail.   The Chameleon Trails are difficult to find by anyone who is not actively looking for them, but not impossible to find.   The First of Klodorex are not naïve about the east side. Just because most of their enemies usually attack from the west doesn’t mean the east is left completely unguarded. They also don’t assume that the Chameleon Trail is impossible for enemies to find. The Chameleon Trails do have some concealed fortifications for defenders and there are aerial and ground patrols on the east side of the mountain, just not nearly as many active defenders unless long range scouts have reported an army in that direction. Then you expect Klodorex to answer with its own army rather than risk letting the enemy reach the mountain.   It is rare that Klodorex ever has any Ripperdactyls, but when they do have them, the Ripperdactyls tend to be based on the east side of Mount Klodor so they don't accidentally interfere with the daily life of Klodorex.
