Keepers

Keepers are powerful even by Havening standards, mostly they are very long lived individuals with access to the ability to Revert and restart their lives. Their function in society is to 'Keep' the knowledge of the gift they have a particular affinity for, across the ages, this has two effects. The first is that the power of their gift grows continually, and doesn't diminish with the reversion process. as a result, over the centuries, Keepers have been misunderstood as Gods with myths coming from actual events involving Keepers from the past. The second effect is that they often 'discover' forgotten uses of the abilities they are the Keepers of. In the current age, the Empit Keeper Gel is dead and as such there is no Empit Keeper.

Requirements

Must be a Havening, whose strongest gift fills a missing role in The Nine Keepers, They must be vetted by either the Acuit Keeper or the Accupoch Keeper, preferably the former, to assess if the individual is capable of the mental strength required for the role. They then must recieve the instincts and gifts to make Revertion possible. Not all Keepers need to approve of the replacement. This has never happened before in Walica

Appointment

The only person/persons who need to approve of the potential Keeper are the Acuit Keeper, and/or the Accupoch Keeper. In both cases they care more about the role being filled than any agendas.

Duties

The Keeper's role is to be a recepticle for all skills and knowledge associated with the gift they are the Keeper of. They are also responsible for teaching these skills and knowledge through secretive ways allowing them to be 'discovered' by individuals they study under.

Responsibilities

The Keeper's primary goal is to find new and innovative ways of using gifts, primarily regarding the gift that they are responsible for. This goal is easiest to achieve when they are seen as a student and not a diety of some kind, they also remember the persecution of Havenings, therefore one of the responsibilities is to keep their status as a Keeper (and by extension as a Havening) a secret.

Benefits

They are still Havenings, and therefore possess multiple gifts, but only their gift gets instinctualized. This has two effects, 1) the skill is never lost, simply forgotten, and 2) the skill is 'rediscovered' a generation or two later, potentially reigniting interest in the general population and adapting the skill for the present.

Keepers usually have most of the Nine Gifts other than Accupoch or Epoch abilities, the exception to this is Cuve who gained the abilities of both, this means that while she can see most possible futures, she is also able to travel to those points to 'Lock-in' a potential future, like all individuals with Accupoch abilities, this causes great pain, as such, she rarely (if ever) actually uses her Epoch abilities whenever possible. The few times she, has have made her a little strange, including but not limiting to losing her sense of her place in her own timeline, giving items to random people she comes in contact with that they might need in the future, speaking in riddles, night terrors. As a result of this, no Keepers other than Cav and Cu have Accupoch abilities and Cu is the only Epoch.

While 6 Keepers are considered to be the 'Originals'(meaning, they became Keepers during or immediately after The Second Acran War) These are Hogged(Hod), Goshe(Gos), Hethena (Het), Hapin(Hap), Gele(Gel), and Giffen(Gif). All others were discovered and made to be Keepers after the fact, or born to take on the role.
Keepers can only be killed by a sudden and quick death. So far the only Keeper to have died is Gel who was killed by a general in The Second Acran War suddenly by a head wound.
