Vyril Meta
The start of it all
Motivation
For the longest time, I just wrote things. Snippets, one shots, and created characters that never had a home. Vyril was made to become that expansive, almost "contained infinite" for all the things that I could make and had previous. What do I hope to get out of it?
A lush, thriving, diverse high fantasy, grim dark world that somewhat makes sense. That I get to play in.Genre
High magic fantasy with dashes of romance and horror.Scale of the World
Vyril, itself, is a large realm roughly 2x the size of earth, settled in a cosmos of other realms and planes. It's a fractured realm with a broken part of it floating in its magical, gravitational pull. This large chunk of land is called Namkural, with Torresind growing on the interior of Vyril.Mood
Given the scope of Vyril, there are areas of grim dark spanning toward noble. Places where characters have a lot of agency and places where they have none.On a whole, Vyril is grey. Nothing is every really great, but nothing is entirely hopeless.
Themes Continued
Vyril is a world of grey areas. There is no supreme good, no supreme bad. Meant to depict how someone who could be so good can be corrupted and how evil can still do good things. The world was created with no real creation date in mind, to give the impression of an old age. Ruins upon ruins, nations and races having rose to power and fallen in world changing struggles. Some that don't affect or even acknowledged in the current time frame.
There is a lot of power on Vyril. To be used, to be found. But there will always be someone bigger, better, stronger.
Conflict
Good versus evil, life versus death, weak against the strong, and the faithful against the faithless. The sort of life changing conflicts that shape the world and change people's lives, even if it is on a small scale. The scale and scope changes, but the importance to the people involved does not.Briefs
