Keana Language in Vyril | World Anvil

Keana

Brief

Keana is the lost language to a frozen, buried empire in Bastarre known as Keanon. There are remnants of this runic script scattered amongst ruins all over Bastarre, found in caverns, crumbling cities, and the occassional artifact that might surface along the northern and eastern coasts of Scyrth and N'gal. Given the old, almost alien nature of the script such things are usually sold and passed around amongst collectors across Vyril. They're especially prized by The Archive. It used to belong to a thriving peoples whose god lived amongst them in one of their spired cities. Now, buried with everything else, their god has become crystalized and lost to the caverns, ice, and snow.   As no one has survived the collapse of the Empire and the crystallization of their god, Keana and Keanon have become just one of many casualties to Vyril's long history. There is a small collection of people who live amongst some of the ruins in Bastarre, but they have never spoken or understood the language. Despite it becoming lost to time, that has only increased its value to some and encouraged expeditions into the dangerous, deep ice.

Keanon

It is unclear what exactly brought an end to the Empire. Where all the peoples went and why all the cities have become buried in so much ice. The only things that have been found are remnants of the Empire, but no bones, no bodies. Broken statues hint at slender humanoids but still there is so little known about this Empire. The inhospitable climate and hostile fauna make exploring Bastarre incredibly difficult, to the point even the Archive has made very little headway into such an interesting, and little known, topic.
