Vulara

The origins of the continent and surrounding islands known as Vulara predate the oldest records. Many theories have risen to popularity only to fade away and be forgotten over the eons but the real truth has been lost to time. It is known that Vulara resides within a realm known as the material plane. Many other planes are known to exist From the lawful good plane of Mount Celestia to the Chaotic Evil plane of the Abyss.
The 14 City States The inhabitants of Vulara no longer live within Kingdoms or Empires. Instead, power is centered around 14 independent City-States. Being independent the City-States vary widely in just about every aspect from architecture to governance. These Cities also vary widely in Age with the oldest predating the Races inhabiting Vulura today and the youngest created in the last decade and barely even a city at all.
Although autonomous. Alliances, Trade deals and other joint ventures often form between Cities. Some of these have lasted for centuries others are fragile and temporary. It is not uncommon for short wars & skirmishes to break out between City-States although a full-on Siege has not been seen in over 7 centuries.
Currently, there are 14 Independent City-States spread across Vulara varying in age. many of the cities have been known under different names through the ages and many other cities have risen and fallen to ruin.
Vularan Calender  It is thought that the origins of the names of the days and months lie within a long-dead language possibly that of 'The First' each name is said to represent the months and the changes that happen within Vulara during its passing.
