The Royal Guards

The Royal Guard were tasked with Guarding Royalty. Pretty self explanatory really. More information? Sure thing. These guards were the absolute cream of the crop, the best equipment, the best training, the best intellect. They were respected by all, and feared by would be assassins. Originally it took great recognition and combat skill to be given the job of Royal Guard, but over a few generations the art of protecting royalty became a skill like any other, and so, could be taught.
Would be Royal guards don't need any prior combat experience, but it helps. The training is notoriously difficult, and designed to weed out those unfit to graduate. Basic combat training, is drilled into the recruits until they they can fight without thinking. They are put through a hellish course of strength and stamina training. The instructors will often launch surprise attacks on the students, to keep their wits sharp at all time. Team based exercises are carried out once or twice a month, target defence and assassination techniques are taught and practiced during these exercises.
Royal guards can not only protect a target, but kill one just as well, this duality of thinking gives them a great awareness of how potential assassins might attack their charge. Royal guards are taught a variety of martial art styles used by foreign countries to prepare them for any form of attack.
Due to the rough training, many recruits either drop out, or are too injured to go on, leaving the strongest and best possible recruits to pass the final test. Each recruit is tested individually, they are given the task of protecting an individual against professional Besseri assassins. 24 hours is all the time they get to prepare, and must maintain their charges safety for 3 days. They can also 'kill' the assassins, skipping the 3 days entirely.
If the recruit succeeds in protecting their charge, the rank of Royal Guard will be granted to them by the Monarch, in a grand ceremony held every 5 years.

Structure

Guardians have the same rank as a Setik, but can only be commanded by Royalty. The lowest rank is Recruit, a Royal Guard in training, followed by your usual run of the mill Royal guard, who may instruct the recruits if needed. They are lead by the Lord commander, who is charged with the protection of the Monarch.

Assets

Royal guards are given a standardized kit, quarters close to their charge, and a salary equal to a Kirihes.
