Nost

Nost is a large harbour town who's main export is cybernetically enhanced soldiers. Many of the townspeople are either cyborg war veterans, or prosthetics craftsmen.

Demographics

The town is mostly made up of Mregians with a few Kalgitians and more than enough Vernan craftsmen.

Government

Arrowhead island and all it's town is owned by the Hokra royal house. It's lord is currently (3036) Rikis Vesi, in service to the Hokra house.   The island has a ban on human experimentation of any sort, although many of the residents happily experiment on themselves.

Defences

Nost is right next to a military base, which may or may not be a good thing.

Industry & Trade

Nost is a town of inventors, prosthetists, and war machine builders.   Not only do the people of this town excel at creating bespoke limbs that can return 100% mobility to their user, but can even exceed this, enhancing the body in new and useful ways.

Infrastructure

There is a factory that produces general purpose synthetic limbs, mainly for export to other nations or to supply field medics with spare limbs. The harbour has a shipyard, which is mainly used to build and house military vessels. It is also the main harbour for the whole island, so anyone wanting to visit the island will have to go through Nost.

Guilds and Factions

Though the town may look idyllic to an outsider, it is actually more like a pot that tries to mix oil and water. 2 factions often come to blows with each other because of this. The first is the Cyborg faction, those who embrace and enjoy what modern prosthetics has to offer. Then there are the anti-cyborgs, those who hate cyborgs for one reason or another. The latter isn't so big, but can cause trouble, calling for a ban on body modification before it gets out of hand.

History

The town was built next to the main castle, which still stands today, by settlers hoping to stay under its protection. Eventually it grew away from the harbour, as more people immigrated there to make a home away from the volatile mainland.   After the Synthetics Research Institute was built, some of the townspeople went missing, mostly beggars, thieves and orphans, Ships would arrive at the eastern beach, carting in live test subjects under cover of night. Eventually people caught on to what was really going on, and there was rioting in the streets. Nobody could stop this violation from going forward though, as Hokran guards defended the walled facility. disfigured people started appearing in town, either missing their arms and legs, or with crude metallic replacements. Yet again the citizens rioted, forcing the local lord to do something about this atrocity.   A few years later the town came under attack by a large force of Cyborg Terrorists, lead by Vorich Sathar. Him and his men tore through the town, burning or shooting anything in their way, many people were killed. The Synthetics Institute was half burnt down that night, putting a stop to the horribly experiments that still went on there.   Not too long after that, Princess Setari visited the town. She ordered the Institute rebuilt, and gave it it's current name: The Sathar Prosthetics Hospital. She became overseer, and helped amputees, war veterans, and those originally affected by the experiments. This caused a massive surge in the popularity of prosthetics, many people flocked to the town and built new homes. There are still some resentment of cyborgs, but it has given the town such a boost in profits and popularity that resentment has died down quite a bit. During the civil war of succession, which followed Empress Setaris' death, an angry lord attacked the town. He had a bone to pick and a grudge against cyborgs for killing his son, the civil war was just an excuse to get revenge. To do this, he and his men rode in on an airship, bombing the city below, before taking over the Sathar Hospital. They held everyone inside hostage, and started killing them one by one. The second Hospital overseer, ISO, was killed during this, the first and last of her kind. unluckily for the lord, a certain horned royal guard was visiting to get his arm repaired, and was a good friend of the overseer. None of the invaders survived that night.
