Mizralia // Mryzliria

During the Lioce Empires war with Rezakia, slaves were sent to set up a colony on the frozen continent of the north. It was rich in Lerite and other resources that the Liocerans could use to win the war. Fortunately for the Mizralians, this was just another nail in the coffin for their oppressors. Every year the northern sea froze over, making it difficult to get resources back to Lioce. To remedy this, ice breaking ships broke a great pathway through the ice, allowing normal ships to get to mining colony. One day everything came crashing down. The Empire had lost the war with Rezakia. This prompted the collapse, and several new nations broke off from Lioce like rats fleeing a sinking ship. Mizralia was the first to leave. The governor of the colony saw his opportunity, and destroyed the ice breaking ships which kept the vital link to Lioce open. The pathway froze over, and the newly formed Mizralian republic was safe. The slaves were set free to become the first citizens of their new nation. A free nation, protected from the oppressors of the south.
In actual fact, the Governor and self appointed king of Mizralia was only interested in wealth rather than freedom. While his people celebrated no longer being slaves, he lied and manipulated them to do his bidding. The Mizralians had to learn many lessons about surviving in the coldest place on the planet. Fuel for warmth was a premium, and food was scarce at first, you can't exactly grow crops on snow covered fields. The first decade or two was rough, famine, infighting, and exposure were the main cause of death.
within 2 decades though, Lioce wasn't a threat, and Mizralia could freely trade during the summer with their southern neighbours. Trading their vast riches for fuel and food. Ice skimmers were invented to travel the sea ice and cut holes in the ice for fishing. The Mizralian people became hard nosed, greedy, and great at trading.
Mregians have traded from time to time with their northern neighbours. Though they prefer to call them the Mryzlir, which literally translates as Snow men. It's easy to see how such a nickname came into being. Mizral is similar to Mryzlir. The Mizralians don't think it's very funny, and despite their best efforts, many other countries call them Mryzlirians too.

Structure

Mizralia is a republic, electing a governor every 6 years.

Assets

The continent of Mizralia is rich in Lerite and oil, very valuable resources that Mizralians make full use of.

Territories

Mizral takes up most of the north, as the sea ice goes. The continent of Mizral is the only land they own.

Military

The Mizralians are a tough people, with even tougher ships that can range from small skimmers to massive factory ships.

Technological Level

Mizral relies more on old technology if possible, but are also eager to embrace new technology if it will bring a profit. Though their navy might be a bit outdated, it is still strong, as their ships are built to last.

Foreign Relations

Mizral is generally neutral to everyone, Ikrevia is their closest neighbour, and the two still trade often. They don't like eachother very much, but money is money. Lioce is their main provider of fruit and vegetables, very valuable in the cold north. Mregia have only recently opened up to trade with Mizralia, mainly interested in new weaponry, but settling for raw resources.

Agriculture & Industry

Mizralia produces a wide range of items. Steel foundries, petrol and diesel, ships, containers, Lerios cores, prosthetic limbs, guns, explosives, the list goes on. Mizralia makes almost anything that can be traded for a good price.   Their agriculture on the other hand is almost non existent. Due to their location in the frozen north, plants are difficult and costly to grow.

Trade & Transport

Trade, Transport, and homes all go hand in hand when it comes to Mizralians. Their Ships are gigantic, well armoured to protect from potentially life threatening hull breaches, and are well defended. In the modern age, they plow through the ice carrying products to sell to southerners. When not travelling trade routes, they will come to rest and allow the ice to freeze around them, turning a ship into a castle on the ice. Mizralian vessels are so large that some southern dockyards simply can't contain them, so come equipped with smaller vessels to shuttle produce to coastal cities. Apart from their gargantuan ships, Mizralians make use of ice skimmers, which hover above the ice and allow for speedy transport of lighter cargo or people.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure of Mizral is of utmost importance, and is maintained by an army of brave, well paid, engineers and workers. Roads need to be cleared of snow, pipes need to be kept from freezing, power plants are vital to keeping peoples homes warm.

The Mizralian philosophy also allowed them to invent better guns, like machine guns and repeater cannons.
