Lera

Lera is the name given to a field generated by some animals, and the mineral called lerite. There is a tutorial on how the field functions at the bottom of the page.   It allows creatures to move objects within the field without touching them, a form of telekinesis. Moving objects costs energy in the form of either heat or electricity. An organ is responsible for this, called a Koraz, it generates heat at a certain rate depending on it's fitness. It is possible to damage this organ if the user over-uses it.   The Koraz is like a muscle, and can be trained to lift heavier weights, or move objects at a faster max speed. The field generated by the koraz is related to its size. Many creatures have extensions of the Koraz organ that terminate outside the body, keeping it cooler than if it were inside the body. They are usually protected by a strong material, making them resemble horns. The Koraz is highly sensitive, so any physical damage to it is excruciating. Most creatures have 1 or 2 Koraz extenders, allowing them to manipulate 2 objects at the same time. Only a few creatures require more than 2.     Vonarians used to have quite prominent horns, but the trait has been slowly bred out of the population over time, to the point that most people don't have horns at all, making their Koraz organ useless. Even those who have horns only have small ones that are barely visible under their hair. Rarely there are those born with larger horns, thus giving them great Lera abilities.

Abilities

The main use of Lera is to move objects from afar, telekinesis, but there is much more you can do with it too, depending on skill.   >Senses: You can sense any object within your field, only vaguely, with no texture. This is sort of like proprioception, letting you know where an object is in relation to your body, so you can manipulate it without needing to look. It does not work on gases or liquids.   >Energy transfer allows you to send heat to an object, which is useful to set fire to something.   >Matter manipulation is possible. You can change the shape of most objects, depending on how strong you are. You can only do this by touching them though.   >Amplification By touching an object you can amplify your field along its surface. This is useful for increasing your sensory range, or for manipulating an object outside your normal field range. For example, a long table, with a cup at one end which is out of your range. To get the cup you could amplify along the tables surface, which the cup is on. This would not work if the cup isn't touching the tables surface though.

Uses

Lera can be used for technological purposes, to move anything in any direction. To do this, you need Lera generating material, such as Lerite, an electrical current, or heat to control the field it produces, and thus any objects in that field. Let's say you wanted to make a simple motor, the best way to to this is to make a ring out of lerite, with a piece cut out. You hook a battery up to each side, completing the ring, and thus making a circuit. The electricity will travel into the lerite, go around, and back out the other side. A circular motion. The field will mimic this motion, spinning on it's axis. Anything in the middle of the ring will spin on it's axis too, but anything outside of the ring will orbit around the ring.   If you wanted to just move something out of the way, you'd use a straighter piece of lerite, like a stick. You'd attach wire to opposite ends, and pass current through it. Because the current is moving in a straight line, the field will move objects in a straight line following the same direction. The amount of power put through the lerite dictates how fast objects are moved, so using this same principle you could easily make a projectile launching device or perhaps a force field to stop projectiles from hitting you.

Manifestation

Lera fields usually can't be seen directly, but they can be felt by other Leromirs.

Localization

Planets with no or very little amounts of Lerite will not usually produce lifeforms that can utilise it biologically. Conversely, planets with a high amount of Lerite will likely have more life able to use it, and more strongly.
