House Metali

Vulture/eagle - Black and purple - Mountain   The Metali house hold dominion over the treacherous mountain terrain of Nylicert. They are known as greed driven vultures, that strip the dead of their equipment to resell to others. The house has a bad reputation, but there are a few within the family that go against this stereotype. The current rulers of the mountain haven't ruled for long, and only rose to power by taking advantage of Mregias most noble and kindhearted house; Ekydo. The two are now intertwined after years of marriage, but only House Metali holds any power in the mountains. Ekydo lords are rarely seen these days. The Metali house makes a most of their profit selling ore that they mine from the mountain, Including highly valuable Lerite (commonly found at higher altitudes).

History

The Metali house didn't always exist. They were originally a family in service to the Ekydo house. An honourable house, protecting the people of the mountain from Pofgyt loyalists, Kalgitian skirmishes, and the occasional bandit attack. The town was believed to be protected by the mountain god, which Ekydo worshipped. Leromir powers sometimes didn't work around near or in the town, making it a bastion against leromir tyranny. One day somebody discovered what caused this interfering aura. Lerite. The town blacksmith kept it a secret for years, studying the ore and making armour and weapons from it. The Metali family found out this secret, and sold it to the Pofgyts. The secret then spread to Verna and Kalgitia, and eventually the whole continent knew. This was a groundbreaking element that could shift the balance between Loksi and Leromir.   Metali collaborated with House Pofgyt, feeding them information that would allow an easy invasion of the town and it's castle. Meanwhile, Verna and Kalgitia were racing to find this new element, and stop eachother from gaining its advantages. The town became surrounded by Siege camps. Kalgitia attacked first, swiftly followed by Verna, and finally Pofgyt. The Metali family was long gone, hiding in the Pofgyts siege camp.   The Ekydo castle was soon overtaken as the three invading armies fought. The town was reduced to rubble. The Ekydo house was cut in half, having defended valiantly, saving many townsfolk, and allowing a small group to escape down the mountain with a sample of the game changing element. They were pursued by an elite Kalgitian Leromir squad, and stopped freqently by Pofgyt soldiers. Through much strife and peril, the group finally arrived at Advar, where they told the king all that had happened, and delivered the element into safe hands.     Back at what was once the Ekydo town, Pofgyt and Verna were fighting on equal terms, with Kalgitia attempting to undermine both of them. In the end, Pofgyt won, they soon left the ruined fortress, allowing House Metali to pick over the corpses and rubble for anything of value, and use it to rebuild the town with less noble intentions. And so they rose from the ashes to form their own house, protected for some time by House Pofgyt.
