House Hyfel

Penguin - white and black - Snow   The Hyfel are by far the best fighters in nylicert. Their experience and harsh environment give them an edge in combat. Their philosophy is survival of the fittest. Hyfel soldiers fight amongst themselves, with an archaic sense of hierarchy. To gain position in the Hyfel army, you just need to kill your superior... If you can.   These are the most dangerous warriors on Nylicert. Attacking the other houses and taking more land for themselves whenever the year long winters arrive, pushing forward with the frost. Though they are a major threat because of their inherent fighting prowess and philosophy, the other houses don't dare try and wipe them out. Yes they might invade their territories over the long winters, but they are always pushed back eventually. and are used as the scapegoat of the empire, something for the houses to unify against every other year.   Despite their many times claiming to be a sovreign nation, the Hyfel have never officially absconded from the empire. As time went on, they calmed down a bit, becoming more civilised, but still feared as tough combatants. They eventually took the northern regions of the planet, and helped invade Mryzliria.

Structure

Royal Lord/Hyavind - Lords hand/Kirihes - Advisor(s) - First Setik (Leader of a company of soldiers, usually the eldest) - subsequent Setiks   The lords hand is responsible for commanding the Setiks, who in turn are responsible for the men they command. The Hyfel system of hierarchy is a bit different to most Mregian houses though. If you wanted to become the leader of your company you'd just kill the Alhe. This doesn't mean just anyone can come along and gain a position of power within the Hyfel army, you need to work your way up.   From being accepted as a warrior, you can then fight and kill your squad commander, then the Setik, then the Kirihes (the most difficult) It would be smart at this point to stop, as your next opponent could simply order his entire army to put you to the ax, the Hyavind wields a great deal of power, and has the hearts of his men (usually). Though some will be honourable and give you a fair duel, many Hyfel lords believe if you can't defeat someone with all their advantages, then you don't deserve their position.   At this stage, if you haven't pissed off the Hyavind already, you may want to plan how you will get past fighting a whole army. There is no way around fighting him one on one, it would be dishonourable to use poison or killing him in his sleep. Instead, most ambitious Kirihes just serve their lord as best they can, happy with their position. But more ambitious Kirihes decide to orchestrate a situation in which they can fight the Hyavind alone.

Forward with the frost!
