Heavy Leizefikurad / Heavy Leromir Javeliner

A Leizefikurad or Lekurad, is an extremely powerful projectile throwing soldier. Using their telekinetic ability, massive war Javelins can be thrown with the force of up to 3 men.   "The lekurad watched the battlefield from behind his shield, peering silently out of the lattice work of holes that acted as a visor. A mass of horses and warriors all roared together, creating a gruesome choir of screams, war cry's, and death throes. Suddenly a howl was heard from above, as a winged creature twice the size of any horse landed with a heavy thump atop a pile of corpses. The lekurad had found his new prey.   The Kypo's rider was a bowman, slinging arrow after arrow at her enemies with impossible speed and accuracy. She spotted the Lekurad who hid behind an impenetrable shield on the blood covered hill, overlooking the battlefield. As quickly as it landed, the Kypo took off into the sky again. The archer kept her enemy pinned behind his shield as she circled around him.   As the flying beast began it's flanking manuevre the lekurad prepared to face it down. He pulled a war javelin from his quiver, a weighty piece of wood and steel that resembled a giants arrow more than a javelin. He gripped it, imbuing it with his strength. After taking a single deep breath, he stepped out from behind the thick shield protecting him, his Javelin at the ready.   With lightning speed it flew through the air, rushing towards it's final destination. A loud THUNK was heard, even over all the sounds of battle. The Kypo screeched in pain, and plummeted out of the cloudy sky. It's rider leaped away as it crashed into the side of the hill, it's neck snapping and wings breaking. She quickly recovered, stood up, and nocked an arrow with smooth and practiced precision. The enemy before her was now much closer, and was preparing another shot. She let hers loose. Through the air it whistled, a whistle that stopped dead along with the arrow. The lekurad held it in place, inches from his forehead, he grinned in triumph as his own projectile flew in the air like a Kypo.   THUNK."

Career

Qualifications

Highly fit and physically strong. Ideally a strong Lera field. 5 years combat experience.

Career Progression

Lekurads work in specialised units or squads, with one of them being the leader. So really the best you can do is become a Lekurad squad leader.

Payment & Reimbursement

It varies in different countries, but in Mregia the pay was 200 Clauds (or more) a month, which in earth coin would be equal to about tree fiddy.   I'm joking of course, I have yet to work out the economy. Will update when that's all sorted.

Other Benefits

Fame, fortune, adoring fans, respect of your peers, and probably free drinks in pubs.

Perception

Purpose

Throwing javelins.

Social Status

Lekurads were always seen as powerful people, and were treated as such. What they do requires a great deal of skill, strength, and accuracy.

Demographics

During 'Medieval' times only 2% of the population of Vona were employed in this role.

Operations

Tools

War Javelin - a large Javelin with fletching to make it stable in flight. Lekurad's need very strong war Javelins, as the force it hits with is immense. Some were re-usable but many were just plain steel tipped with a wooden shaft.     Shields - Large, thick rectangular shields acted as mobile cover for these dangerous warriors. Protecting them from arrow fire, infantry/cavalry charges, and enemy Lekurads. They had small holes to act as view ports, letting the user plan his next shot from behind his shield.     Spear - Along with a quiver of war javelins, A Lekurad often had a spear or at least a sword, if infantry or a leromir got up close they could switch to their sidearm. Spears also made the Lekurads a good defence against cavalry charges.       Armour - not very heavy armour was worn, as the shield and javelins were already very heavy.

Materials

War javelins and food high in Lerite were essential for them to function.

Workplace

Lekurads are awarded excellent quarters for their services, they need to be well rested. Usually they get their own personal tent when at work in the field.   Usually a Lekurad has their own home

Provided Services

Lekurads get their own squire, who will do their bidding and make sure they are well. Medical attention is also afforded to them when they need it.

Dangers & Hazards

Apart from the dangers of battle, a Lekurad puts their body through intense physical strain. Even the most skilled Lekurad breaks a bone from time to time. Even more often they'll get fatigued due to a lack of calories or lerite.   Lekurads get wounded frequently, from either broken bones or battle injuries. This, combined with calorie deficiency makes many a Lekurad retire early. They may be super powerful, but they're still human.
Type
Military
Demand
High demand. But due to how expensive it is to train Leromirs to do this, and along with how rare leromirs were, meant that there were never more than 2 squads in a kings army.
