The Lost Continent

After disappearing from the material plane 851 years ago, Vorania has suddenly reappeared. While it maintains roughly the same size and shape as it once did, much has changed on its landscape.

The Time Before

Records from before the vanishing of the continent are spares and rather unreliable. Tales tell of several thriving communities among different provinces, of ancient conflicts and epic battles that ravaged the land and its peoples, of great heroes and sinister villains that changed the very fabric of reality itself. However, none of these stories can be corroborated, and much of the effort now being made is to find the truth behind these stories, as well as the disappearance of Vorania itself, so many years ago.   What can be said for certain is that Vorania was once a very prominent and important part of the world, but many other nations trading with it for its host of natural resources. It was a lynchpin of the global economy, and its sudden withdrawal therefrom caused much upheaval, even leading some smaller civilizations to ruin.

Landmarks/Places of Interest

The Rennuk

A massive central mountain now stands in the center of Vorania in an area that was flat, arid plains before the unification. The top of the mountain is hidden by thick clouds that twist through various surreal shapes and colors, concealing the writhing maelstrom that is the Rennuk. The air around this area is heavy with magical power, causing many experiments and data collection efforts to go awry. The Rennuk is a major place of interest for new archeologists and researchers, yet it currently remains impenetrable to even the greatest minds.

The Broken Steppes

To the north-west coast of Vorania lie the Broken Steppes, a vast collection of flat plains separated from one another by deep gorges. Some of the canyons here extend so far down that light cannot reach the bottom of them. A collection of bridges link many of the steppes together and allow for travel and trade between them. Even so, the residents of the area are incredibly insular to the point of being almost isolated from the rest of the continent.

Rimefell

The most southerly tip of Vorania is coated with thick layers of ice and snow. With very few geographic features to use as landmarks, this area - known as Rimefell - is home to a host of strange and powerful beasts, as well as small groups of people that live as mostly nomadic tribes. Life here is harsh and unforgiving, permitting only the strongest to survive its bitter environment and vicious denizens.

The Blooming Valley

Running from the North side of the Rennuk to the north-east coast is the majestic Phyrna river and surrounding it is the lush, verdant metropolis known as the Blooming Valley. Home to many wonderous creatures, the inherent magic of the area has encouraged growth of flora unlike any seen before. The metropolis of Asylvern is situated among the massive trees that entangle through the valley.

The Gorefields

Situated between the Rimefell and the Broken Steppes are the Gorefields, a depressing, twisted swampland that serves as the final resting place for thousands of unfortunate beings. Before the unification, the Gorefields was reasonably level arable land that played host to many battles between different warring factions across the continent. Since the reemergence its history has tainted the land into its current state.
