The Devils Pulpit & Destruction of Tezirra
The year was 221 After the great Storms when this Disaster occurred. In the South Azure Sea South of the Kingdom of Ageron and west of Anlarius and Om Thalor of the Sea Elf kingdom, lies the Ruined city of Tezirra.
Once a thriving Independent city with a population of over 10,000 Tezirra was known as an opulent city of trade and home to Scholars, Astronomers, Rich Merchants and Nobility. Tezirra had some of the most wondrous Architecture and was the envy of many other cities and cultures in Voltera that was all before the eruption of the devil's Pulpit a long thought to be extinct volcano on this Island now known as Kraken's Fall.
It's not understood exactly how Tezirra was destroyed but many speculate that the Devil's Pulpit errupted because of Dark Rituals to some evil or demonic powers by cultists deep within the Volcanic tunnels within the Devils Pulpit. It was during the Summer Doldrums in the year 221 when the Devil's Pulpit erupted with such force that it blew a portion of the Mountainside out hurling great stones onto the city of Tezirra Killing many but it was the shower and Rivers of Molten lava that truly destroyed this wondrous city.
The City is Now Crumbled and its people Dead or driven away a Ghostly Shambles of what it once was. Rivers of Molten lava run to this day from he Devils Pulpit through the very city. Eruptions still occur from time to time and billows of smoke can be seen from the Devils pulpit on the Seas horizon some 20-30 miles away reminding navigators of this Disastrous Island.
Manifestation
When the Devils Pulpit erupted a sizable section of the Volcano exploded and showering huge boulders and ash upon Tezirra. This followed by great avalanche of molten lava tumbling down and burying many of the great stone structures fully or partially and setting ablaze all of the wooden structures. Smoke and ash lingered in the skies above Tezirra and the Devils Pulpit for nearly a month and the night skies glowed a deep red. Cracks and fissures spread throughout the island and the Seas Bubbled and boiled all around the island. It is said that the Seas Around where so hot that it Killed all the sea life for miles including a Kraken who's bones now lay washed ashore. This is how the Island got its new found name.
Over time Lava poured into the Sea in some places cooling and becoming jagged teeth surrounding the island. This feature was and is now a great navigational hazard to ships wishing to approach the island.
The Volcano still erupts and throws down fireballs and rock sometimes unexpectedly that sea going vessels do not linger with miles of the island for fear of being destroyed.
Localization
Those that have dared venture back to the Island now speak of Stifling heat form the rivers of lava so hot that one easily gets exhausted just spending hours on the island. They also speak of the great difficulty at casting spells within the ruined city and it becomes next to impossible the closer you get to the Devils Pulpit. only charged magic items and weaponry seem to be unaffected by this magic deadening. Others have spoke of Demonic winged Creatures within the ruins and seeing the fly about higher near the Devils Pulpit who have survived a trip to the island.
