Volkhund Engine Mark V

The Volkhund Engine Mark V is the fifth and newest iteration of the famed Volkhund Engine. The Mark V was designed and produced by the engineers of Powic Engine & Ironworks in the Stahlren Empire. Its output of nearly 1400 horse-power is a notable improvement over the Mark IV's 330 horse-power, with even higher fuel efficiency. These engines are typically used to power Knights in both Stahlren and throughout the world.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Volkhund Mark V is a twelve-cylinder supercharged internal combustion engine based off the designs of experimental aircraft engines. Although usage as a true aircraft engine proved fruitless, just like the earlier iterations of the Volkhund Engine, the Knights already in use were able to use the engines.   The Mark V runs on a petroleum-based fuel, typically 100 Octane for the Knights utilized for construction. Rumors circling the civilian operators of Knights state that the military versions use a specialized blend of fuel, but these rumors have not been acknowledged.

Significance

You all thought the Volkhund Mark IV was the best the best could be. Well, I have come here today to present a simple truth.   You were wrong.   Now presenting, the Volkhund Mark V! With over triple the output and even less fuel needed, it has become clear that there is always — always — room to become better than ever.

This engine model in particular is significant because it quadruples the power output of the previous model of Volkhund Engine, which had been regarded as "perfect" for over thirty years. The manufacturers of the engine claim that this only serves as a reminder that there's always room for improvement.   The engine itself took nearly three years to design and a year to test before being released in 1934 CE.
