Flight
Invented by a team of the greatest mages and artificers at the time, a combination of runes, spells, and enchantments allowed ships to rise off of the ground and fly through the air. Funded by King Donnoth the Wise of the Cennti, this was the technology that allowed the Cennti to conquer their neighbors in the Unification Wars. The ability to fly troops quickly over mountains and forests, to have archers and catapults firing on the enemy just out of their range, to land troops directly behind the enemies walls. The possibilities of flight made the Cennti nigh unstoppable. After the war, the ability to quickly travel between any place in the world in a matter of days connected the world in a way never seen before. As the magics that kept the ships in the air advanced over the centuries, days became hours, and hours became minutes.
Utility
Flight is used for war, trade, and even recreation on occasion.
Manufacturing
First, the ship itself must be built, originally they took normal ships from the sea and enchanted them, but later ships were built specifically for flight. Originally built out of wood, stone as become more popular for ships who spend most of their time in the Void, as it offers greater protection and weight is meaningless in the Void.
Access & Availability
Once a closely guarded military secret, after the unification of mankind and the discovery of new worlds, the spells and incantations became available to the public. Ships no longer just carried troops, but also trade goods and perishables once thought impossible to get in certain parts of Eot.
Complexity
The combination of runes, spells, and enchantments required to keep ships in the sky are some of the most complex known to man. Even after the weeks or months required to build the ship, it takes months of incantations before a ship can go airborne. Ships that take too much damage have been known to fail and fall right out of the sky.
