Nekmundis

History

As the mauren aren't exactly known for their scholarly pursuits, it's perhaps not too surprising that they don't have a painstakingly recorded history. What is known is that the mauren have, for as long as they've existed, been predominantly nomadic people, having only established the hub cities in recent years.
One oddity of note is that the planet has a fairly scarce ecosystem, certainly not enough to have led to the evolution of a sapient humanoid species. There are a number of millennia-old sites across the landscape, and this combination of facts has lead some radicals to believe that the mauren are, in fact, a created species, set loose upon the land some aeons ago by a civilization long-since forgotten.
This ancient society, known to researchers as the Veshch, must have had a somewhat favorable relation to the mauren, regardless of which one was the native to the planet, as many of the older mauren speak of these Veshch in good terms, though they do call them "Oheliah".

Tribal Government

Tribal governments seldom control more than a small portion of the planet. Tribes are groups of many families who have banded together for mutual survival, or who share common beliefs. Tribes are often precursors to city-states and nation-state governments, but there are a few examples of highly advanced and sophisticated tribal governments found on Nekmundis. Tribes here tend to be nomadic, depending almost entirely upon hunting and foraging for food, or they can settle, which indicates the development of agriculture.

Notable Tribes/Clans

Valis: the head honchos of Asayuma, this clan is also responsible for the creation and maintenance of the Krugel standard currency. Through a connection to the Federation Galactanet, this currency has a steady, stable exchange rate.

Technology Level

Muddled 5-7
Level 5(industrial) brings widespread electrification, tele-communications and internal combustion.
6(industrial/atomic) brings the development of fission power and more advanced computing.
7(pre-stellar) A pre-stellar society can reach orbit reliably and has telecommunications satellites.

A convoluted mess of technology brought on by their personal advancements and technology imported from the Federation 'benefactors'. On their own, the mauren have achieved a crude electricity conveyance system, and early DOS type computers, featuring barebones ROM-BIOS, and sometimes- not always- possessing a data storage medium. These systems are in widespread use throughout the civilized settlements, favored over the foreign imports, on the simple fact that the mauren grew up with their own tech.

Major Settlements

Asayuma

The de facto capital of the mauren people, thanks to this serving as the only established city that has a moot hall big enough to house representatives from the majority of the tribes on Nekmundis.

Orhiana

Said to be the largest of the pride hubs, housing shizirai, karunin, and suuna mauren in roughly equal measure. The place, though, is run by a prominent shizirai pride.

Renyimura

The turahu mauren capital, as it were, situated in a cold forest just south of an arctic shelf.

Points of Interest

Selurrn Rlep

A strange, weathered pyramid structure that was held as taboo for countless generations. Mauren tribes who'd set up camp nearby were spooked and scattered by forces unknown. Scholars, however, have established a base-camp at its perimeter to study and transcribe the happenings. During an expedition into a recently discovered opening have unveiled a strange device of unknown origin, known as the Disassembler Crucible; a multi-armed device with a basin at its base. When living organic tissue is placed inside, nothing happens, but inorganic and dead tissue is disassembled by a combination of the arms and a cloud of nanites. This discovery and the reverse-engineering thereof has accelerated nanotechnology within the Federation, and has given rise to the theoretical Assembly Forge concept.

1.) Kamaya(radius: 1738.1 km; mass: 7.342×10^22 kg; 27.321661d[27d 7h 43 min 11.5s]) The 'mother', the largest and most prominent of the moons. She controls the tide, and sits locked in a stable orbit.
2.) Sutyah(radius: 11.2667 km; mass: 1.0659×10^16 kg; 0.31891023d[7h 39.2 min]) The 'trickster', serving as the smallest moon with the most irregular, and sporadic orbit, is known to disrupt the tides, leading to unexpectedly powerful waves.
3.) Halimurr(radius: 80.1 km; mass: 8.7×10^17 kg; 259.6d[0d 0h 0 min 0s])
4.) Ireh(radius: 360.2 km; mass: 5.6199×10^8 kg; 21.276 dd[0d 0h 0 min 0s])
