Personal history

Anelis grew up in between the Jade Sea and the Emerald Gulf. She, unlike others of her kind, took a liking to humans, seducing them not only for a meal but for love.  
Her interest and care for humans began when she was very young during her first ship raid with her parents. Her parents had told her that men are easy to hunt, all a gorgeous mermaid needed to do was prop herself up onboard and bat her eyelids at them. 
She waited and watched from afar as her mother served as an example. She noticed how all sailors were afraid. All but one. The one closest to her mother. She seduced her prey, all other sailors trying to get their friend to snap out of it.  Anelis understood that there were people and that they were tricking them. It seemed cruel to her. There are plenty of other creatures to eat, why trick helpless men? 
After witnessing her first raid, she started raiding ships on her own. She didn't have the intent to attack the sailors, but to befriend them. She had learned how to seduce men and used this to her advantage. Seducing men for the sole purpose of seducing them, giving them what they want. Falling in love countless times over. The word eventually got out and Anelis became well-known amongst sailors, allowing them to distinguish between her and other mermaids, saving many from a terrible fate.
She spent her life falling in love with sailors, entertaining and pleasuring all she met. Many sailors would travel to those waters just to get a chance to meet her.
