Osen-no-hito

Osen-no-hito are half-human half-elves born from a Jundo-no-min female. They are the result of what the Jundo-no-min consider polluted and Alchemically impure coupling. It is self evident they are toxic in their Alchemical Essence instead of having a proper Elemental affinity which supports the idea that they are the personification of pollution to Jundo-no-min culture. Jundo-no-min's industrialization of Alchemy and Arcane processes has given rise to the concept that exploitation which produces or harnesses pollution is disgusting, distasteful but endorsed for the sake of its benefits. This has given rise to deliberate attempts to breed, inculcate thrall-like acquiescence in, and capitalize on a toxic underclass of Osen-no-hito workers to toil in harsh polluted conditions because of their disparaged public perception and their acclimation to pollution and necrotic ashen deserts.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Osen-no-hito are taller than humans but shorter than elves. They inherit the lean build and comely features of their elven lineage, but their skin color is normally dictated by their human side. While half-elves retain the pointed ears of elves, theirs are more rounded and less pronounced. Their eyes tend to be human-like in shape, but feature an exotic range of colors from amber or violet to emerald green and deep blue.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Osen-no-hito are viewed as regretful mistakes and always with suspicion. They are constantly checked for the taint of God-Taint because they are viewed as being highly susceptible to it due to their polluted natures. It is an observable fact that more Osen-no-hito become God-Tainted, but whether this is because of their nature or how they are treated is something those that become tainted would argue. The Osen-no-hito that remain in Jundo-no-min Culture constantly have to struggle to prove themselves as more loyal, more trustworthy, and completely above reproach in their purity to have any chance to be accepted as an equal to any other race of the Jundo-no-min. Many succeed in this quest and most do not and live much worse lives because of it. Osen-no-hito are unheard of among aristocrats, but can be found among the other common classes. Frequently Mizu-no-min whom fall on hard times will become a mother of an Osen-no-hito to give birth to it discreetly and sell their shameful offspring to the orphanage which doubles as Alchemical sweat-shops or necrotic alchemical strip mine work camps to to reap the financial reward while avoiding the stigma associated with such pollution.
