Fate of the Scion

The following is unfinished & WIP

**This article was written to satisfy Prompt 18 of Summercamp 2021.**

**Final writing, polish and accompanying images will come later.**

I survived the Ellori Sira Academy in 2876. Me, and my Gen Sci peers, who were institutionalized in Nacralium Co.'s 'school' just after the founding of the portals endured a cruel expectation... that armed with minimal educational prepping, we were forced into the Laruian Dimension.   We were only six years old. They sent us in groups of four. Many children never made it out alive.   But the deaths were a calculated loss for the school, rationalized as a regrettable but necessary cost to achieve a greater end. When I was there they didn't even have a Gen Magni or Auctor to bring the children through the portal and guide them to their goal. They just sent us in and expected greatness. We were tasked with locating and returning with an encapsulated Coelarua each, so it would grow into a Therumbra bonded to us. Nacralium wanted loyal tethered under their control, and who better than children they could raise within their institution themselves, ones with power unmatched by the two generations before them. Gen Sci's unique advantage is that, so far, we are the only of the four gens to have grown up our whole lives being tethered.   I think this intensive and forced coming of age the Scion went through underlines a lot about us as a generation. Now that we are all 22 years old, despite being adults, we are still viewed as the 'tethered children', with the Aucs and Mags clinging to most of the positions of power tethered hold in our world. Nacralium Co. is only an example of one organization among many who corrupted the Sci while we were vulnerable youth, and due to this many see the Sci as the dangerous generation... the ones less at grip with their humanity and more likely to use their power for immoral reasons.   Remember that we didn't choose to be who we are, we were made into who we are.
(to be added--)   -more visceral, specific description throughout   -personal account of their 'coming of age' ceremony   -design the author character and refine their personal voice
