Risea's Corridor
"I am not sure how this came to be, considering that it appears to have been formed before the theory of Etherspace even came into being. It is exceptionally stable, however, so it has seen use for the Society to store items and knowledge that cannot ever see the light of day."Risea's Corridor is the Etherspace domain that has been in use by the Kingdom of Mithambe since its inception, and which now sees use as an expansion space by the Mithambian Arcana Society for sensitive level workings and knowledge. Considered one of the most secure locations in all of Mithambe, the Corridor is home to some of the bleeding-edge advancements in the study of the ethereal, and contains stability-shattering secrets that have been judged too dangerous or altering to leave anywhere else.
Risea's Mirror
Unlike other Etherspace rifts, the rift that permits access to the Corridor is a permanent working contained within Risea's Mirror, and can be activated and deactivated at will. As the only point of ingress and egress for the Corridor, the Mirror has significant resources poured into its maintenance and protection.Dimensional Properties
In comparison to realspace, the Corridor is considered to be a low-concentration ether environment, which is conducive to its current role as a storage unit and as a high-security experimentation ward for workings and devices that are considered too dangerous to operate in other environments. The Corridor is also considered stable, and has not undergone any significant shifts or positional relocations throughout the history of its occupation.Current Usage
The Corridor currently has three established "units" that are part of the Arcana Society, and one unit that remains the property of the Crown. The Arcana Society utilizes the Corridor for high-security storage and experimentation, while the Crown maintains a storage unit for artifacts and knowledge of the highest secrecy ratings throughout the Kingdom.History
The Corridor can date back to the reign of King Leon Mitfield, whose wife - Lady Risea of Arlenes - had her personal mirror brought to Castle Manhesto with her upon her marriage. Debates are held as to if the Corridor was in use during that time, though archeological studies in the Etherspace are inconclusive as to if Lady Risea knew of the Corridor, or actively utilized it during her lifetime. The Mirror and Corridor would prove useful to Princess Sarah's studies into the nature of the Ether, and would form the backbone of her own exploration and eventual first recorded usage of humans opening their own Etherspace rifts. Her notes continue to form the functional theoretical backbone of Etherspace rifts and their properties to the modern day. Shortly after King Charles' ascension to the throne, the Mirror was moved from the possession of the Royal Family and formally transferred to the newly established Arcana Society. It would be moved into the Basilica's basement, where it remains to this day. In 1890, during the Falkner Square incident, a cell of 6 insurgents attempted to gain entry into the Corridor. Five were repelled and ultimately killed by Talon forces defending the Mirror, and the sixth was killed when attempting to access the mirror - the emergency lockdown wards were activated, and the insurgent was cut in half, being in the rift transition when the wards forcibly terminated the planar connection.
