The Holy Casarian Empire, a loose grouping of kingdoms and duchies, is surrounded by threats from within, without, and beyond. A land constantly embroiled in war one must step carefully to avoid being labelled an enemy of the Empire. Magic is strongly controlled and even sanctioned wizards are looked upon suspiciously and with good reason to as the forces of chaos constantly seek to corrupt and manifest in the world. Though of little relief to the common man the gods seem to be supportive of The Holy Empires right to exist and offer miracles to those they choose as champions.   To the North across the sea of mist are the barbarian tribes of the Nords. Little is known of these giant men but it is said misty days warn of pending raids.   To the South all that protects the Kingdoms of men from the Greenskin menace of the wastelands are a lawless might makes right collection of "kingdoms" known colloquially as the borderlands. Beyond these wastelands lie unexplored deserts and beyond them is rumored another kingdom of man besieged by demons of the Polar Wastes.   To the East lies Mankind's greatest ally the Dwarven Holds that spread across the spine of the world. Beyond the spine is a desolate wasteland occupied by Hobgoblins, Marauding Horse Tribes and Rumors of a twisted kin to the dwarves of the spine. North of that lay the frozen wastes of Northland Home to the Lich Queen and her hordes of undead. She was the head of the Lamarian noble family of the most north-eastern province of the Empire, she became obsessed with immortality and undeath and ceded from the empire building the black gate to block off the only mountain pass that traverses that area of the Spine.     In the West lies the City-State of Obernland, the Ashenwood Forest, and the sea of beasts. The forest holds fey and those who enter rarely leave. The sea is likewise dangerous and entire seaside towns are known to completely disappear.
