United A'Mi Duchies

The United A'Mi Duchies are, as the name implies, a group of 10 duchies on the northwestern shore of Vi'Dan. The people of the duchies, as would be expected, harbour a strong sense of regionalism, with little aside from magic sensitivity and dialect in common. The southernmost duchy, Co'La'Vo, (Southshore) has little interest in the affairs of the squablling dukes of Pale Island. The key unifier of these people is mainly their common sensitivity to Umbramancy, also known as Shadow-Magic, as well as the fact that they hate the other lands of Vi'Dan more than the other duchies. Due to their unusual system of governance, the capital of the United A'Mi duchies changes depending on which duchy the current Archduke rules from.

Structure

Archduke: Holds executive power over all duchies, and is appointed in a rotation between the dukes. When each archduke dies the next one is chosen from their place on the rota.   Duke: 10 squabbling members of an Archcouncil. They are the inherited representatives of their duchies, and act in their duchy's interest in matters of state.   Vanguards: While some duchies are more centralised than others, most employ at least some use of Vanguards. The appointed office of those tasked with defending specific units of territory from external invasion.

Territories

The United A'Mi duchies consists of, expectedly, 10 duchies, alongside one special spiritual territory. The Duchies are, from North to South:   Mi'Bi'Kan: The coldest most isolated duchy, relies heavily on the fishing industry of its coastline. Capital, Ti'Al   Ir'Ra'Ben: The smallest duchy by land area and not much bigger than Black Island. Capital: A'Ir'Or   Ul'As'As: The largest of the three pale island duchies and contains a majority of the pale island population. Capital: Ul'To   Mes'Ti: A thin, coastal mainland duchy. Often considered the poorest of the mainland duchies and has the smallest capital. Capital: Ma'Se   In'Uv'An: Occupies the northern section of the Westhome Valley. Largely agrarian. Capital: As'In'Ir   Ti'San'Ar: Contains the largest city by population, which is also its capital. Capital: Ti'To (Alltown)   Vi'Vi'Am: Occupies the southern section of the Westhome valley. Its capital acquired a unique shape from being a long island in a large saltmarsh. Capital: Vi'E'To (Long Town)   Mi'Na'A: The largest agricultural producer of all 10 duchies. Occupies the majority of the Easthome Valley. Capital: Ma'ma'ki   Va'Von: "You have to travel through us to get somewhere better", enough said. Capital: Lar'Bi'Ra   Co'La'Vo: The southernmost duchy. Occupies the entirety of the Southhome Valley, most focused on trade. Capital: A'Va'A'To (South Town)   Black Island: The special spiritual territory. Contains the epicentre of Umbramagic energy. Capital: Cur'A'Mol
