The Mu'U

The Mu'U are the people of North Vi'Dan that live further north than any other group, inhabiting the areas near the Northern Cape and Home Channel in what are aptly named the Mu'U Lands. The Mu'U have no specific central government, but instead act as a wide group of mostly independent sheparding comunities and fishing villages, though the largest of these have developed into city states such as the 'capital' of As'La. Calling it a capital is quite misleading however, as it has very little interest in controlling the other states, preferring peaceful cooperation as a network of independent equals. This heavy focus on local independence and decentralisation is necessary in the dark, windswept and rainy north. The Mu'U as a people are those sensitive to Mollitamancy, the Mu'U magic of resilience. This is very apt given their origin as, unlike the other cultures of Northern Vi'Dan they did not emerge from the uniform Great Northern People but instead originated in the south.   The Mu'U were a cultural minority, living in a state they call the 'Old Home' or the 'Dead Home' in what is now the Alnish Kingdom. However, the many precusor states that lived in the area weren't nearly as culturally accepting as the modern day Alnish kings are, and the Mu'U were frequently the target of discrimination and abuse. Eventually, a particularly zealotous kingdom, its name lost to history, persued complete and utter destruction of the Mu'U people, destroying their home city of T'Or in the process. This is where a humble yet powerful mage simply known as The Prophet came to the limelight and began to lead the Mu'U people northwards. This is where they embarked on the Great Crossing, the one of a kind event where the prophet lead thousands of poor villagers over and through the Trans-Vi'Dan Mountain Range. The group moved northwards, eventually arriving at the place they call home today.
