Seige of Sar'To

Sar'To was a vitally important city to the Kingdom of Cul. The town was capital of the Holdship of Sar'To, one of 5 municipal holdships in the kingdom, and the closest one to the capital city, Cu'La. Sar'To was the only major defensive fortification between the Kingdom of Sen and the Cul capital and thus it was imperitive for the Kingdom of Cul that the city not fall.   The Kingdom of Sen, contrary to what King A'La V believed, weren't particularly interested in trying to capture the capital as they had neither the forces to take the city nor the will to sacrifice so many against Cu'La's notoriously difficult walls. However, by being in a position to attack the capital, the Sen forces could apply significant pressure to the King of the Cul and thus have a very strong negotiating position in the peace talks that they were willing to persue.

The Conflict

Prelude

During the course of the year of 560, diplomatic hostilities began to erupt between the Kingdoms of Cul and Sen due to the severe restrictions on the rights of the Sen minority living in the city of Sar'To. The Kingdom of Sen said it needed to protect the interests and rights of its people, with the Kingdom of Cul replying that the people had the freedom to leave and go back to the Kingdom of Sen if they wished, and that the Sen had much less of a resource crisis than the Cul. The city of Sar'To was set to be the battleground for the prize of dominance over the Great Northern Vi'Dan Plain for good.

Deployment

The garrison inside the battlements had known an attack was comming long before the first banners were sighted on the horizon. The city guard had pentupled in size to 500 men by the time the attack came from many eager Cul recruits wanting to defend their city. The Sen would have to face a much better defended target than they had anticipated.

The Engagement

The seige lasted a few months, and ended with the surrender of the city to Sen forces after the disasterous Battle of Sar'To, in which the Cul army was sharply defeated.

Outcome

Capitulation by Cul forces and an end to the War for Sar'To, the annexation of the Sar'To holdship by the Kingdom of Sen.

Aftermath

Increased diplomatic tension between the two kingdoms. Further hostility towards Sen citizens living in Cul territory. Plans for a grand retribution.
