Phytomage
A Phytomage is anyone who is practised or learned in Phytomancy, the Sen art of Life-Magic. Phytomages come in two colloquial categories, "Light" Mages, who specialise in healing, and "Dark" Mages, who specialise in applying phytomancy warfare, sometimes as battlemages. Since these descriptors are very precise, a mage who doesn't fit either category is often called either a "Grey" Mage or a "Green" Mage, depending on context.
Career
Qualifications
Most practising Phytomages have to hone their ability at the Phytomagic Academy, though individuals with particularly strong phytomagic sensitivity can be self taught to some extent.
Perception
Purpose
Light Phytomages are the most elite and expert healers in the whole of North Vi'Dan, with the ability to heal many wounds, cure many illnesses and treat many poisons that others would deem too much to recover from. Dark Phytomages are experts in the creation of Nettlesteel and the use of Phytomagic in battle.
Social Status
The Mages are seen as pillars of Sen society, and particularly as holy men/women due to their connection to theForest of Sen. Traditionally only the wealthy are able to send their children to be tested for Phytomagic sensitivity, and this combined with the fees required to learn Phytomancy make it an upper class profession.
Operations
Materials
The most vital (and possibly only) material for a Phytomage is essence of nettle. (This doesn't take into account the ever-permeating phytomagic energy.
