Roc's Barb

A Roc's Barb is a writing implement used by the Root Priests and the Irate Priests to inscribe Sylgad Scrolls. It is taken from The Roc's feathers; is not in fact not the full object, as it is enormous, but the smaller yet still quite sizeable barb of one.

Origin

The barbs can only be gathered from The Roc that was formerly living on the The Holy Canopy.

History

Extremely rare, these feathers only dropped once every few years when the Roc was living on the tree of Sylgadrig. Now, one has to look out for the feather during the Roc's hunting trips back home. However, due to the encroaching of Trællites upon the woods of Veyetræll, the Roc has to go farther and farther into The Outskirts, and sometimes stays there for many years. With the Invasion, as the Order of the Holy Ones split into the Root Priests and the Irate Priests, the barbs were kept preciously. Now they are very valuable, as the Roc has not been seen for decades.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

As the feather barb is hollow, it makes for an excellent ink carrier. Its barbules hold the ink inside.
It has properties that make the runes inscribed on the scrolls magical.
