Iremen

The Iremen are the people living atop the Skyre Plateau. Having a great vantage point on the celestial tree of Sylgadrig, they are a culture of high artistic achievement. The followers of Hevel and Tosten are called the Ireans. This regroups most people living on the Skyre Plateau.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Relvan is a language derived from Arl. In Skyra, there is a Relvan-Veyetran pidgin dialect spoken by the common folk, unique to the surroundings of that city.

Shared customary codes and values

It is customary to share a work of art depicting Sylgadrig during special occasions. It is seen as a better gesture to share an artwork made by the offerer, even though it is of poor quality. This makes most Iremen great artists nonetheless. When the relationship is over, the artwork is often sold. Abroad, this makes for a lucrative market for the Iremens' works of art.

Common Dress code

Formal dresses are worn during special occasions by all genders. These are seen as artistic objects, and thus often depict an image of Sylgadrig.

Art & Architecture

Art is central to the Iremen's culture. Artworks from the Skyre Plateau are exported all over Veyetræll. Architecture is also seen as art, so the buildings of Skyra and the Upper Plateau are very colorful and diverse.

Common Taboos

It is taboo to discuss the consumption of Celestial sap as a drug. As the Plateau is far from Sylgadrig, the tree's sap is very rare. However, artwork made under the influence of sap is highly sought after by buyers from Droshos especially.

Contrary to Trællites and their polygamy, the Iremen stay loyal to one partner. However, unlike the Rootfolk, it is not a union for life. They often change partners and marriage as a ritual is not observed.
