The Foundry

The Foundry is an artifact rumored to lie somewhere deep in Braggo's ancient catacombs capable not just of transcribing any spell cast in its vicinity, but even creating any new spells the wielder can imagine. Variably described as a room thrumming with arcane power, a chisel made of pure platinum, and a tome whose words sprout effortlessly across the pages when the holder thinks of them, little is known about what the Foundry actually is. It is unclear how much is truth and how much is legend--or, indeed, if the Foundry even exists--but whispers of it have hovered in Braggan mage circles for as long as anyone can remember. If it truly does exist, it may well be lost to time, the Labrynthian Expanse of Braggo's catacombs having been magically sealed 3 centuries ago, and even the upper levels having fallen into severe disrepair, but that has never prevented anyone from searching for any information they can find on its location, and scouring the open areas of the catacombs for clues.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

While no one can truly know how an undiscovered item of myth works, some scholars of the Consortium Arcanakke have theorized that it may function similarly to an extremely powerful spellcasting focus, drawing power directly from the weave in lieu of components or--indeed, concrete spellwork.

Significance

If the Foundry is truly as powerful as its purported to be, it could wreak absolute havoc in the wrong hands, or be a thing of wonder in the right ones. The ability to toy with and shape the weave directly is not a power to be taken lightly, and there are rumors that the Foundry itself is the real reason why the Labrynthian Expanse was sealed off.
