Thraamok Ayam

Matzi, made without scale
Bore her children despite no male
Quetza, Yuumesh, Chela, Tzaca, Ahbtan
All were born before the dawn
The last one proved tough to pass
So Matzi's pain did surely last
Day and night
Night and day
Two moons passed once it was laid
The others spawned and newly hatched
Fawned with wonder for its hatch
"Will they be like me?" Yuumesh cried
"Commanding weather in the sky?"
"Or as me?" Chela said
Chunks of shell still on his head
"Strong and vicious with their claws"
"They shall nurture just as I"
Tzaca Tuul said to their surprise
"Incorrect" spoke Ahbtan
"They shall provide me wealth beyond"
A shadow slithered round their sides
Xibacimil, sprung from Matzi's blight
" No matter what type they be
They shall not escape the likes of me
I shall hide in the corners of their home
To suck the flesh from their rotting bones."
The egg shook and rolled and turned
the Thraamok watched with much concern
And as it thumped
Bits of shell did jump
Scattered round in all direction
The size of the shards far from perfection
-"Ayam Oral Poetry" as told by Scribes Emerild and Amethist
The Thraamok Ayam were the vast nomadic tribes of lizardmen who roamed the continent of Amarron ( some scholars also cite tribes in Western Vestra as early as 1773, during the Thritic conquests of the regions. No definitive proof has been found, however.) Though considered one tribe at the time, the rapid diaspora of the reptilian wanderers eventually gave way to the 4 distinct modern groups of Lizardmen, those being the Quetzpa, Chi-packli, Zsapoca, and the Alkeltephon ethnic groups.   Quetzpa: The oldest definitive group from oral histories, ranging back to the stories of Lan Atalal and his defeat. These people's are a mixture of reds and oranges in color, and stand at about 5 feet 7 inches tall on average, head frills and all. They are also easily characterized by their unique body ornamentation, which involves the painted splotches in religious rituals or warfare. This is said to be mimicry of the Thraamok of war, Chela Acto Xab, who hatched from his egg by bashing the shell violently.   Chi-packli: The smallest group of all, both in stature and numbers. These members generally average a height of 4 feet 8 inches, and have brown and dark red scales(as opposed to the Quetzpa's lighter reds). Having suffered drastically in terms of population, these tribes have been forcibly removed from Amarronite lands, succumb to disease, as well as faced extensive famine. Other tribes have dubbed this string of bad luck "Xibacimil's Shadow" after the Thraamok of misfortune and death.   Zsapoca: Not much bigger in size at an average of 4 feet 11 inches, these amphibious lizardmen are adept fishermen who primarily migrate along the coasts of Upper and Lower Amarron, with semi-permanent campsites detailing their frequent habitations. Their reliance on the sea for survival has lead to a outlier culture compared to their land-roaming cousins. The Zsapoca people also seem to possess an ability to remain underwater for a period of hours without difficulty before needing to resurface. Their scales reflect lighter, bright colors of pink, light blues, and aqua-marines, which help to blend them into their aquatic hunting grounds.   Alkeltephon: Rarely seen outside of the Upper Amarron province, this tribe of larger lizardmen (standing usually around 6 foot) have been mostly assimilated into the Upper Amarronite culture, thanks to their war-hungry ways and savage battle tactics. Most of these peoples have dark blues and black scales
