Thuon Khor

Formed long before the Scrying Wars, Thuon Khor has always been based in the sands of the Kibaan Desert that covers the majority of the Khor peninsula.
Naturally protected by the Wasad Mountains, Thuon Khor has been in many conflicts, yet its capital Thuon has never been taken by enemy forces. Around a half-millennium ago, Thuon Khor began a series of empirical wars with the nations of Seraht. Propelled by their fearsome war horses and the skilled warriors who fight on them, they vassalized or forced all but the northern most lands under their rule of law. Through this process of vassalization, Thuon Khor brought much of their technology and arcane knowledge to the nations of Seraht. This new policy of sharing information between Thuon Khor and the subject nations allowed for a wider growth of magic, sanitation, economical growth, and learning.
To maintain a certain amount of loyalty, Thuon Khor allowed their new subject nations to retain their national identity and some level of autonomy. Many of the nations' rulers were left in place but relegated to either viceroys or stewards depending on the political system in place. Each viceroy/steward owes allegiance to the king/queen of Thuon Khor, but is allowed some level of independence in their decisions. Some laws, which are decreed as empire-wide, are disseminated through a mage installed by the king at each vassal and protectorate, referred to as the Mage of the Sun. This mage and his/her armed auxiliaries are the only physical presence of the empire in many of these nations, apart from wartime when the sovereign's armies can often be seen marching through allied lands.
Although the shinning jewel of the Thuonin army are their horseman, their ranks are also filled exceptional swordsman and archers. These soldiers are trained by the most talented of their junior partner states' men. Their armies also are drilled with centuries of tradition, making their tactics well tested and extremely efficient.
Most Thuonins pray especially to Pelor, the god of the sun, however this is not a forced religion on any citizen of Thuon Khor or its vassals. Pelor is seen by most as the god who will protect them from the desert sun and bring light into their lives. Other common deities are Celestian, god of stars and wanderers, Kiri Jolith, god of honor and war, and Shinare, goddess of wealth and trade.
Thuon Khor is the only nation from Seraht to have a significant colonial presence on Hadrashar. While people from every nation in Seraht make the journey to Hadrashar, Thuon Khor alone has the resources to expand there. They are easily the most efficient colonizers in both the eastern and western lands for two reasons. The first being the amount of income they receive from their junior partner nations which makes the cost easy to bear, but secondly, because they are a people used to desert terrain and expansion into unfamiliar territory.
Thuon Khor draws a lot of inspiration from real-world Arabia, specifically the Abbasid Caliphate. Their specialized horsemen draw similarities to mamluks and their armies draw from the armies of the Ottoman Empire.

Public Agenda

Thuon Khor wants the known world to be under their banner. This, as the government would have the people believe, is to spread prosperity and knowledge across all of Vestara. However, the sovereign and all governmental figures of Thuon Khor has enjoyed massive wealth since subjugating its lesser neighbors.

Assets

Thuon Khor enjoys massive wealth from its subject nations and from a fairly large amount of gold mines within its territory. The army is undoubtedly the best trained in Seraht, and its war horses/horsemen are world-renowned.
