Mage of the Sun Jamaldi

The elderly elven Mage of the Sun in charge of Arsab, Jamaldi was once the closest counselor to Imperator Hulin III.   Jamaldi began life as a common in Thuon Khor. His early life was during the reign of Numia V, when he began studying magic and general intellectual subjects such as history and diplomacy. By the time Hulin III was crowned king of Thuon Khor Jamaldi had distinguished himself as a prodigy in the intellectual arts as well as a practitioner of abjuration magic. This led to him becoming a professor at the Golden Academy in Thuon.   As Hulin began his expansion wars, Jamaldi felt a desire to help his country in the conflicts. He joined the Thuonin army as a strategist and war mage. Quickly rising through the ranks during the invasion of Hondaria, he negotiated the deal with Jidal-Yuun to declare independence. Thus he garnered the attention of the self-declared Imperator, quickly leading to Jamaldi being named as Hulin's right hand. For the rest of the expansion wars, Jamaldi acted as confidant, strategist, primary diplomat, and the second-in-command of the Thuonin armies. It's also thought that jamaldi tried to spare the peoples of Seraht from Hulin's more violent and devastating impulses. Generally, in a time of war and conquest, he was seen as a voice of reason and of peace.   As Hulin descended further into the recesses of power lust after conquering all but the Rashazar lands, Jamaldi withdrew from him. Seeing that his longtime superior had been neglecting his daughters he took up the role of tutor and father-figure. With Empress Aaliyah's consent, he also taught the two in the ways of arcane magic hoping to protect them from the worst the world could throw at them. As a consequence, Jamaldi was not in Rashazar during the war of conquest in their lands which is widely seen as one of the reasons Rashazar was in a stalemate with Thuon Khor for decades. It also meant during the Battle of Slovos Forest, Jamaldi was thousands of miles away as Hulin was struck down.   Knowing his oldest comrade had long fallen to madness Jamaldi knew Hulin's death would bring peace but just as the royal family did, Jamaldi grieved for him. He acted as Numia VI's counselor for the first years of her reign, advocating peace and stability throughout the Empire. As Hadrashar was discovered, it is thought Jamaldi was the one who first suggested Numia focus on colonization to the New World. He oversaw the construction of Arsab and was appointed the leader of the new colony as Mage of the Sun.   A major voice in the Empire, Jamaldi is widely seen as a hero and respected by its many inhabitants. He is even known in Farandis and although he is not seen as a heroic figure, he is still highly regarded by the learned and those in government.
