Jidal-Yuun
Jidal-Yuun, or Jidal for short, is the southern country that split from Hondaria during the Thuon Khor expansion wars.
Bordering Kulgar to the north, Lake Jabroska to the northeast, Hondaria to the west, Thuon Khor and the Wasad mountains to the southeast, and the Hujarin Mountains to the east, Jidal-Yuun is a protectorate of Thuon Khor and a part of the Thuon Khor Empire. It was the first of the two countries to split from Hondaria.
Thuon Khor, during the expansion wars, contacted five tribal leaders and offered them protectorate status if they were to cede from Hondaria. In exchange, Jidal was promised a high amount of autonomy and economic support. The leaders agreed and formed what essentially became an oligarchy that was a subsidiary of Thuon Khor. This oligarchy was led by the small council made up of the leaders that met with Thuon Khor, and remains largely the same, although the council has grown in power over the years.
Jidal-Yuun, due to its status with Thuon Khor, has focused its efforts away from having a national army or its own economy. It has, over the years become more of the cultural hub of the empire, with many colleges of arts situated there. It also houses the largest port in the empire, Seras, which while it is on Jidalian land, the entire city is directly run by Thuon Khor by way of the Mage of the Sun assigned to Jidal. Seras, the de facto capital, manages the majority of trade from Seraht due to its position on the southeast border of Jidal-Yuun on the Bajmid Ocean.
Public Agenda
Jidal-Yuun is possibly the most loyal state in the empire. Their people enjoy a reasonable amount of freedom and security in exchange for tribute paid back to Thuon Khor. The council members are largely abusive in their power towards their subjects, but the Mage of the Sun typically keeps them mostly in check.
