Eldrathia

The southernmost country of Farandis, Eldrathia is the cultural epicenter of Vestara.
An ancient country, Eldrathia is the home of culture, philosophy, and even the common language. With the first signs of civilization over 5 thousand years ago, it was Eldrathia that first devised a formal writing system that all races could share. Writing and speaking was divided since time immemorial by your race. However, when Eldrathia's first city, Attika, was created and people of all races settled within its walls the human leadership taught their language to all inhabitants, thus being called common. This language spread across Farandis, and eventually over to Seraht during the Descrying War. It has since become the shared language of all Vestara.
Besides the creation of the most widely-used language in all of Vestara, Eldrathia is credited with the creation of centralized government and with the concept of critical thinking. The formation of government led to the founding of other like systems across Farandis, centuries before the first nation was formed in Seraht. The idea of critical thinking, meanwhile, led to the formation of the Bluestone University in Umbria, the forefather of all secular study and arcanums. Eldrathia largely then, is considered the father of the modern world.
When it was first created with the city of Attika, Eldrathia was a direct democracy, led by a council elected by the public. However, during the Descrying War, a prominent and wealthy politician gained the favor of the general public due to the failings of the war with Seraht. Once he gained the favor of the people in Attika, he mobilized a force of Skjorv mercenaries. He then took absolute power with no conflict as the remainder of the council surrendered. His name was Daevet, and he became the dictator of Eldrathia. Since then every ruler of Eldrathia has been taken the title of Daevet and has been chosen by the previous Daevet, not typically from parent to child but rather selected by arbitrary means typically their favorite individual.
The current Daevet is Daevet Otharius, a middle-aged man with experience in governance as he was the aide to the previous Daevet and learned first hand how to rule his nation. Ruling from the ancestral first city, Attika, he has sent many Eldrathians to the New World hoping to claim land for the ancient nation. Many Daevets have ruled with an iron fist, but Otharius is largely seen as a philosophical man, and is respected across Vestara.
