Vespana

Vespana is a fantasy-ified version of North America. This was a pet project of mine that occured to me as I was driving late at night over a bridge in Alabama. The nearby city of Mobile seemed to emerge from the water like a giant tower that glowed all sorts of beautiful colors, and I was leaving it by the means of a bridge that stretched to infinity. It was ominious and beautiful, and as I drove I thought more and more about how magical the world really is.   A world built on top of another, the sovrens of Vespana have no idea what happened to the civilization that came before them. The sovrens came about by colonizers from the other continents of the world, which have now all perished and sank from the Greatest of Wars that occurred 500 years ago. Magic is not as strong on Vespana as it was on the other continents.   Vespana is a massive continent that spans thousands of miles. It is rich in natural resources, including the invaluable residuum. It contains a spectrum of biomes ranging from arctic to desert. Its main feature, however, is the detritus left behind by a ten thousand-year old civilization that litter the entirety of the continent. Nearly all major cities are built upon ruins left by the Vespanites, and the nigh indestructible road system they left behind, called the highlines, forms the backbone of commerce and transportation on the continent.
