Aural Magic

Auralism

Within the boundaries of Avaleen, the system of metaphysical manipulation is known as 'Aural Magic'. Nearly every sentient creature in the region carries the capacity for utilizing this method. Various in ability exist between species and slight various exist from one individual to the next.

Effect

Auralism is divided two-fold. Once into four elemental families, second into branches of masteries.  
Elemental Families
  • Plasma
  • Gas
  • Liquid
  • Solid
  • Mastery Branches
  • Offensive
  • Defensive
  • Construction
  • Manipulation
  • Anyone can learn Auralism, it only takes an investment of time and effort. Some are naturally more inclined and proficient to the practice than others, obviously.  

    Elemental Families

    Each of the four families is based off of the four phases of matter. A caster has an attunement to one specific element, granting proficiency at said element, while giving access to utilize other elements in the same family.  
    Plasma
    Most notable examples are fire and lightning.
    Primarily a high-energy family
    Excellent at dealing powerful, fast damage
    Fragile defense
     
    Gas
    Notable examples include air and wind.
    High energy, but more matter than Plasmas
    Versatile usage and experienced users can mimic the other states
     
    Liquid
    Recognized primarily as water.
    Fluid abilities (obviously), a strong balance between matter and energy

     
    Solid
    Known for dirt, stone, metals, and sand.
    High matter rating allows for strong physical defenses and weaponry
    Slower on attacks, though
     

    Mastery Branches

    Offensive and Defensive spells encompass the capacity to inflict damaging or protecting effects(respectively)using the caster's element. The resulting spells tend to contain a higher amount of energy verses matter.   Construction and Manipulation spells tend more towards altering elemental matter itself. In addition to having a higher matter verses energy concentration. Manipulation focuses on taking existing elements and moving it around. Construction actually can create matter from seeming nothingness.

    Side/Secondary Effects

    Discovered by the practitioners of Tricaran, but not yet spread to the rest of Avaleen, there is a secondary component to Auralism. Each person who practices the study is naturally gifted with a special, unrelated

    Manifestation

    When casting an Auralism spell, a glowing circular sigil appears in front of the caster's hand. The size varies based on the size of the area it is being cast into. Additionally, the sigil appears more detailed and ornate with high levels of focus poured in. (Note: Shrinking the affected area will make the spell more potent. Smaller spells sigils tend to form more intricately than larger spells)

    Discovery

    The history of Auralism is long entwined with the existence of Avaleen itself. The practice had been done since before history was even being recorded (by humans, of course). Through the years, a few various advancements have been made to enhance these abilities.   Most notably was, first, the discovery of Arcanite. Secondly would be the discovery of Meus.   From there, two other advancements occured with the creation of the Arcanum Alloy and the discovery of how to distill and grow meus crystals.   Tricaran is at the forefront of developing Auralism (along with every other form of technology they deem worthy). Despite their work, only a little of their knowledge goes beyond their boarders. That information that leaves their bounds often can

    Material Components
    Meus crystals and arcanite metal are useful components that can assist in augmenting the power of auralism.

    The main restrictions are one's level of training and their physical capabilities
