Thengalir's Gap

Named for the Creator god, Thengalir's gap is the sole route from Verrin's far northern wastelands to its verdant, fertile south. It is the site of the first and last battles of the Orcish invasion of the Third Age. The first, when the Orcs made their bloody foray into the south. The last, when Tysabian drove them back to their desolate homeland ten years later. A system of watchtowers was constructed to be permanently manned by the sharp-eyed Elves, and they are still manned to this day. As such, Thengalir's Gap is nominally an Elven state, despite its barren and mostly empty landscape.
You now stand where the fate of the world was decided many thousands of years ago. These Elven watchtowers bear mute witness to the ever-present threat of the Orcs.

Geography

The Gap is mountainous and rocky, making it treacherous for those who do not know the paths. It is also frigidly cold year-round owing to its altitude and the influence of Elven mages who aim to make it as impassable as possible for the Orcs. There are also pine forests dotted along the slopes of the snow-capped mountains.
