The Upper Cloudcrystal Hovertown is a farming settlement in
Boiling Sky. It's one of several towns that base their livelihoods around the cloudcrystals, a unique crystal that forms among the clouds of Boiling Sky. Out of all the towns, it's one of the largest and oldest, and the highest.
There are no floating islands in Boiling Sky, and all artificial islands brought in sink. Because of this, Upper Cloudcrystal and towns like it are built on top of large, stationary hovercraft.
Location
Upper Cloudcrystal is in Boiling Sky, a unique environment in Avian that constantly has hot air rising. This town is physically the highest of all the cloudcrysal towns, and have access to the largest cloudcrysal forest. The higher the forest is, the better quality and more crystals it produces, making Upper Cloudcrystal especially prosperous. However, the higher in Boiling Sky one goes, the more dangerous and unpredictable it becomes. Cloudcrystal farmers from Upper Cloudcrystal have the highest mortality and injury risk because of this.
As a consequence of being built in Boiling Sky, the entire town is set on a giant hovercraft, the only thing that can stay afloat in the constant rising air. After the recent collapse and rebuilding of Passerine Hovertown's hovercraft, Upper Cloudcrystal may not be the oldest hovertown but it does have the oldest hovercraft powering it.
Economy
Resources
The economy of Upper Cloudcrystal is built on the back of it's namesake, a precious resource called cloudcrystals. Cloudcrystals are dangerous to harvest but invaluable to the functioning of all cities in Avian. They are also rare, since they are only able to form in the unique conditions of Boiling Sky.
Over half of Upper Cloudcrystal's residents work in the cloudcrystal sector, with most of those working as actual farmers and the rest working in management and distribution.
Tourism
As the largest cloudcrystal farming town, tourists began visiting to see Boiling Sky and the cloudcrystal forests.
Locals actively facilitate tourism, with tourists typically visiting for the size, location and farming industry. After Passerine Hovertown's hovercraft failed and Upper Cloudcrystal was able to claim the title of oldest hovercraft, the tourism industry has started pushing that as well.
