Venai's Wake

In 2241, a routine scientific drone on Venus detected what appeared to be an old ruin, deep beneath the clouds. Realizing the immense importance for defense and research, the United States of the Americas immediately sent a reconnaissance group to investigate. What they uncovered was the remnants of an ancient civilization, the Venai. What’s more, they discovered that they, too, had once been the right hand of that civilization, tens of millennia ago.   Propelled by this discovery, humanity soon found itself as the heirs of a massive empire. It spread quickly, branching off into many separate federations, such as Nova Britannia and New America. Despite initial conflicts, these sectors united in 2322, forming the Sol Imperium under the headship of Emperor Michael I Rovick.   Since then, the expansion of humanity and her allies has been relentless. Now, in the early fourth millennium, the Sol Imperium comprises over twelve thousand hyper-linked systems, and over thirteen hundred full member worlds. Thousands more colonies steadily grow on the frontier and between the hyperlanes, while billions of stars lay waiting within the Imperium’s claimed territory, full of mysteries, resources, and, perhaps, dangers.   It is the Year of Our Lord 3082, and these are your stories...
