Prologue
After a discussion the night before, Kali asked Primeheart if he was interested in her performing a ceremony to convert him to following the Primal Gods, specifically Uhn. He admitted that we was still considering the idea. Primeheart went to the Chalice and sparred with Nathan, wielding a trident deftly. Kali spent the rest of her morning at her temple. Cyl spent her morning with Dub, working on the mural. Connor investigated the history of the city that he used to know, albeit mostly unsuccessfully.
The Beer Forge
The Beer Forge was extremely busy that day. On the stage was a band called The Shepherds, a folksy metal band with their hit single “I Done Lost My Sheep.” Zreet, the pigeon aarakocra, guest-starred in their performance. Connor arrived after a bit, hungover and disheveled.
After wandering the city for a time looking for his quarry, a quasit in a sombrero made his way into the Forge and immediately inquired about a duet with Zreet. He sang to the best of his ability, with the topic of his song being his quest to find Nathan. Calling him over, the group introduced themselves and Jot was very obviously enamored with Nathan’s new familiar Mags, the owl.
Jot had been instructed to convince Nathan to cease his contract with the King of Secrets as his patron and switch to another devil named Jezebel. Nathan, deciding he was interested in swapping patrons, agreed to a test of his skills and Jot said his friends could help. They were instructed to retrieve an ancient sextant from a tiefling named Brimslug the Red in a place called The Salted Hollow. It was determined that they had to take the final tunnel underground that smelled like salt in order to get there. Before going down to the caverns, Nathan went to Pinból’s and asked him about Jezebel.
Pinból’s Tower
After arriving, Nathan noticed that Pinbol’s hair was coming in grey at the roots. The wizard knew a surprising amount about Jezebel. She was the Vulgar Muse. She was also known as the Keeper of Crimson Marble, the Unspoken Imitation, and the Sanguine Dauber. She was a fiendish patron of tortured artists.
The Beer Forge
As Nathan got back to the group, the entire bar erupted in cheers for him. Jot was the star of the day and Primeheart seemed to be enamored with him. The group gathered their things and headed to the caverns.
The Caverns, Salty Path
In the caves, they found evidence that Akamon and the rest of his party had traveled down there as well. They arrived at a half sunken ship in a cave, and fought a number of zombies and ghosts. They dispatched them quickly, and discovered Akamon's corpse floating face down in the water. Kali jumped in after him and found that it was an illusion.
The ship begin to move and the weaponry left by the vanquished skeletons and ghosts came together to form a hideous mouth. The mouth ran the full length, front to back, of the ship. It was a massive mimic.
A few close calls, some mimic vore, help from Jot with Nathan's warlock abilities, and the group defeated the mimic. They even got away with some treasure. Nathan agreed to switch patrons and signed a contract to join up with Jezebel. Jot said that Nathan would be seeing her in his dreams for further instructions.
Jot left on very good terms with the party, and with Cyl in possession of his sombrero.
