Nathan sat with Mari and they talked about their plans for the future. He also went to Arlund and asked about a way to get Mari back to her original body. Arlund had figured out that Wish or a very complicated ritual might work.
Saxi made breakfast with Mo to give to Oisin and Pinbol. Pinbol’s hair had starting turning white. He and Saxi had researched and he had narrowed it down to two possible spells to bring him back after he died: True Resurrection or Reincarnation. Pinbol wanted to go speak with Ezra and call in a major favor that he was owed. Pinbol asked Saxi and some of the others to go with him to see Ezra later that day.
Cyl looked into ways to fight spellcasters more easily and avoid mind control type spells. She went to see Afra and told her about the plans for the boulder. Cyl planned to sculpt 4 figurines and her first was going to be Vaz. He wouldn’t be around if not for the gift Afra had given her.
Seldanna had been spending more time with Rydell and Stokes, so Juveha had moved out. She sent a Sending to Juveha: “I know this is a long time coming, but I wanted to say I’m sorry. You deserve better than what I could have given you.” That morning a courier arrived with a message to the Arasys Estate: “I’m sorry too. I still love you.” and it was signed from Juveha.
Rosie went to work that morning at the Beer Forge and found that Ivy was in a good mood. The whole city had been in a good mood for the last few days.
Afra
Kali had spent the evening after the fight with Afra and Cyl showed up to draw them. They stayed at Afra’s house for a couple days, just the two of them. Afra’s hair got a little grayer and she looked a little older with each passing hour. They talked about everything and she told Kali things she had never told anyone.
Afra said that she was ready to go and did not want to come back. She finally felt at peace and wanted to see her friends again. They spent
On Monday night, Afra was tired so they had wine and went to bed. She was gone by the morning. Kali just held her and whispered, “You are so loved. I just wish you would of let me say it while you were still here.”
Kali read the letter that Afra left for her. It was just a couple things to handle after she was gone. There were several letter to be delivered to various people, some to the council members and some to her friends. Kali cast gentle repose on Afra before she left the house.
Kali stopped at a lawyer’s office on the way to the Forge. They opened the magically sealed letter and read it. Afra had written it two days before and left everything to Kali. Kali delivered a few more letters on the way, including to the council chambers.
Tea Garden
The others saw Kali heading into the Tea Garden and went in to see what was happening. They caught up to her and found out about Afra. She gave Kurt a letter and he left to read it.
Everyone talked about the events of the fight with the King of Secrets and Nathan asked about Tybalt. They assured him that Tybalt was happy with his friends.
Kurt came back and said that, in his letter, Afra recommended Kali for her Council position. They had nothing in place to replace Afra, so he wasn’t sure what would happen. He didn’t know how the other Council members would feel about the recommendation.
Beer Forge
They all headed into the Beer Forge and saw Rosie collecting her money. Nathan spoke with Rosie about missing Tybalt and wishing he had given Afra and Tybalt more of a chance when they were here. Cyl announced that she and Dub were getting married
Saxi told the others about Pinbol and how weak he was. They decided to go see him and Kali delivered letters on the way. One letter was for Pinbol.
Pinbol
Pinbol was so weak that he had stayed at home to meet with Ezra. Oisin had taken the kittens out for a few days to protect their children, in case things didn’t work the way Pinbol had planned. They heard Mo talking and found him helping Pinbol to move around.
Ezra was there looking annoyed because Pinbol was stubbornly working. If it didn’t work, and Pinbol did not come back, he was ok with it. He felt that he had left a positive mark behind. He didn’t want to leave the kittens or Oisin behind though.
He left notes for himself with the various experiments. He had Seldanna pull out a vial of Daybream and put 3 drops in both eyes, far more than he was supposed to take. There was a second vial of eirshale powder for Ezra to use.
It took an hour or so for him to actually pass away. Saxi and Seldanna sat on the bed with him, holding his hands as he passed.
Saxi, Seldanna, and Rosie volunteered to speak. To bring in some nature Saxi went to get the plant from the kitchen and Kali brought out a vine bracelet. Saxi asked him to come back and promised to stay with Oisin, and the kittens, if he couldn’t. Rosie asked him to come back, because he was family. Seldanna said she had regrets and wanted him to come back so she could help with his research.
Ezra stepped up to finish the ritual and there was a strange flash from the incense burner. It smelled like lavender. The roots started to grow quickly over the entire body and they filled the entire floor of the room.
The roots began to decay from the outside edges in toward the center of the bed. They slowly revealed the hands and feet of a firbolg. There were hints of Pinbol in the features. He was young with a dark beard and hair.
Pinbol started adjusting to his new body and he read Afra’s letter. They talked and eventually left Pinbol to rest. They headed to the forest to find Jastra and give her the letter from Afra.
Skyroot Forest
Jastra lowered the ladder for everyone at the treehouse and invited everyone in as she read Afra’s letter. She smiled at one point and almost cried at another. She expressed that she was glad she had made it to her last tea date with Afra. Jastra looked at Seldanna and said “I don’t want us to miss our last tea.” Seldanna asked everyone to give them a minute alone and they went to the tea room.
Jastra apologized for the way she had treated Seldanna. Seldanna couldn’t say that she forgave Jastra, but she had come to talk to her. Seldanna told her to give the new baby a much better and loving life than she’d had, otherwise she’d never forgive her. She said it might taker her a long time to full forgive Jastra and Jastra said that, with the King of Secrets’ influence gone, she had maybe 20 years left.
Seldanna said that part of her was very proud that Lark was the father of her new sibling. Jastra told her the divinations had predicted twins, maybe boys or maybe one of each. Jastra said that she had a lot of excuses for how she treated Seldanna, but none of them justified it.
Jastra explained that she and Rydell weren’t always happy and had a political marriage. Rydell had found someone, but she didn’t until Lark. Jastra wanted Seldanna in her life and she didn’t want to be alone for the rest of her life, like she had been throughout her marriage. Seldanna took a minute to compose herself before going in to join the group. The group decided to go to the spa to relax after their emotional day.
Spa in Pearl District
Rosie loved her first spa trip. Hailey surprised the group by showing up in a pirate outfit and joined them. She said that it was hard to explain what was going on and how she had come back. She said she had been travelling, mostly in the Feywild, and also said she had been traveling for around 60 years. Nathan told Rosie to talk with Hailey about her feelings as the others chatted. Rosie invited Hailey over to her house to spend time together and to talk.
Later that day, Cyl gave Kali the drawing of her and Afra. Kali finally let herself cry.
Rosie’s House
Hailey arrived to see Rosie. They chatted a bit and then Rosie confessed her feelings to Hailey. Hailey said that she didn’t really have those type of emotions anymore, but she appreciated Rosie telling her. She wasn’t sure if it was because of the Feywild, but those sort of emotions got taken away from her. They drank and talked all night, as friends.
