The Free City of Nalfaldihr
The “Free City”, founded over two thousand years prior, is known throughout Vawl as the city that welcomes all, where goods from overland and oversea and bought and sold under the protection of the Agornax Council. While the gods are welcome, and people may worship as they please, the city is not pledged to any divine being. Temples and places of worship are located throughout, but the most inner part of the city is home to the opulent Azur Keep, the gathering place of the Nakh'Zamardar or Merchant Kings of the council and the seat of law, and administration.
The city has a sizable guard force, pledging to protect the merchants and travelers, and dealing harshly with those of nefarious behavior. It is said the Agornax Council governs through benevolence, but some say darker beings are a foot in the ancient city, where those of disparate races and people came together to first create a haven for traders, or so the stories go.
Over the years the city has grown, burgeoning out from its humble beginnings, building upon itself and stretching outward to what is now vast and walled with architecture varying over its many years. Of the Nakh'Zamardar themselves, some are known, others are only mystery. Some family names have remained over the millennia, whereas others rose to power.
It is said the city itself never falters, always remaining a place for those to seek haven and prosper, where all races and casts are found, from the lowliest slave to the wealthiest lord.
