The Crescent Coast

Located along the northwest of Sologai, this vast, stormy section of coastline is enclosed by mountains in such a way that the two together form the shape of a crescent moon, giving the region its name. The Crescent Coast stretches from the icy Hoarpoint in the north to the more temperate Stonefingers in the south. Historically, the region is home to two major races - the colder, more wooded north contains the high elven enclave of Quelien. Meanwhile, the milder south contains Braidmoor, a Norrigen territory isolated from the southern imperial cities by the Skyspine mountains.

Geography

The terrain of the Crescent Coast varies greatly - along the inner edges, the icy Skyspine mountains extend down into tall, sheer ridges flanking deep, curving valleys and glens. Closer to the sea, however, these merge and give way to great windswept plains and moors among undulating hills, punctuated by the occasional valley continuing down from the mountains. At the coastline, the stormy Chultian ocean crashes against great cliffs and wide, flat bays and coves.

Fauna & Flora

Further up the mountains bordering the Coast, small, hardy shrubs and grasses are the most common surviving plants, with more costal areas containing great pine forests in the north and some deciduous plants found in the more temperate south. In addition to the animals commonly found in the region, such as rabbits, deer, wolves and bears, the Coast is home to several more exotic creatures, such as giant beasts, trolls or ettins high in the mountains. Recently, a number of lycanthropes have entered Braidmoor from the mountains, leading to several attacks on human towns and villages.

Natural Resources

While fish are plentiful off the Crescent Coast, acquiring them is challenging due to the wild nature of the oceans. Wood can be found abundantly across the region in pine forests and smaller, hardy shrubs, and food is readily available both in domestic species and in the available game. However, the areas most abundant resource is the mountains themselves - the granite and limestone that make up the landscape of the region serve as prime building materials, and are often traded with nearby regions for more exotic goods.
