Anatomy

Possessing large talons and a sharp beak, vultvids will viciously defend themselves and other members of the flock if they feel threatened.

Ecology and Habitats

They have a preference for warmer environments. Those in the deserts or badlands will feast on creatures foolish enough to have wandered out in them unprepared.
The flocks in the cooler regions have thick tufts of fur on the body migrating to warmer places when the air becomes too bitter cold to handle.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Vultvids are savangers always with an eye out for the freshest of pickings. They will consume old abandoned carcasses of all sizes, this includes the toxic remains of Fthorskotos. This has lead to speculation over the dark coloring in their appearancse and their immunity.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

They are sometimes caught to see if they can be used in a cure for either Twist or Rot. Nothing has been successfully created, but it is believed that the darker the body coloring the more toxic flesh it has eaten. These particular ones are surprisingly still unaffected by the poisons making them quite desirable for not just those in medicine but also to the Night Markets. Shady merchants will sell them alive or dead to those seeking a cure to their ailments.

They have very keen eyes allowing them to spot food over great distances no matter the time of day.

Conservation Status

Despite concerns raised about the night markets and the creatures necessary role in the environment, nothing has been done to stop sales.

The body is always ranges from gray to black in color. Wings will have different colors and patterns depending on the region they are from often matching the local environment.
