The Revolution of 113

Themes

Of the many themes of the revolution, the dynamic between the people of the castle and the revolutionaries may be the most important. Ash Portal and Kay Laurens have an interesting dynamic, starting with Kay protecting Ash from a thief. With Ash being in line for the throne and Kay being a criminal shines through with their dynamic. Ash is often seen as the moon symbolically and Kay is seen as a star symbolically, this will pop up more often. The castle consists of many people, from servants to royals, and is often seen as gold, like how the higher money is also gold. The people in poorer city districts use copper coins or more beaten down metals on the streets. Size is also used as a theme during the revolt, as small birds are seen around the city, while Ash befriends a small Mutare Bird (the revolution) and returns it to the giant Mutare Bird(the people) and allows it to grow. This large Mutare Bird later saves Ash Portal at their execution, representing the people being liberated.

Structure

Exposition

To fully understand the situations of which the revolution took place, one must understand the full context of Vinceret. The Great War and the Famine of the 50s created rising tensions in the country. Rising inflation and a rising lower class gave way to a flood of new revolts and riots. Even after some peace was reached in the 65, multiple revolution groups were still plotting, even after many were sold out. The anonymous Vinci poet once said “when tides and ties of life change- the oceans lie in wait.” This rings true to the many assumably ruined groups who waited for the right time to strike.

Conflict

The main conflict of the revolution is the Vinci Government against the Inferno (as well as other allied groups) Group. As multiple people in the government like Ash and King Shoto had actually had allies in the revolution groups; the specifics can get complicated. There were spies infiltrating the government from 111 onward, mainly gathering basic information. The people wanted better systems in place to help them (wages, medical equipment, education) which were present in other areas. The government wanted pure power over the people, which led to cities having extreme surveillance and unrest.

Rising Action

Just before the main revolt which included the execution of Ash Portal, many events lead to the break of the government. One of the most important events was the exile of Ash Portal. Ash snuck into the forest while being wanted by the very people they were friends with just a month before. After Ash was caught and taken to the capital, tensions rose again. Seeing a figure of peace and strength being nearly killed made the people break into riot.
