Shia'ara

Shia'ara is the second moon of Valur, always keeping a watchful eye over the planet, though she stays hidden behind her twin Luunala, for most days. By both Silvarran and Awenmont lore, when Shia'ara is full and her sister hidden, the creatures that hide in the darkness grow more powerful, and any inhibitions they might have that prevent them from straying into civilized areas is erased.

Geography

Shia'ara, like her twin, to the naked eye appears completely barren and without water. The biggest difference between the two is that, where Luunala lies relatively inactive, Shia'ara has a high level of volcanic activity, often shooting plumes of smoke, magma, and debris into space.

History

According to the legends of the Awenmont Empire, after the Ninthorio, Luunala and her sister, Shia'ara, were the first two beings to exist. The story speaks of how the Ninthorio's light rarely graced Shia'ara, because his gaze was always fixed upon Luunala. Yet, somehow, Shia'ara was the one to whom the Ninthorio first confessed his love. Invited to his abode, Shia'ara brought along her sister and there the three of them lived for many years.    The three lived peacefully for a time, Shia'ara knew that she rarely drew the Ninthorio's gaze, but this did not bother her, for it was her he had chosen. This lasted for some time, until the One Father's brother came to live within their heavenly palace. Shrakmead was as handsome and his brother, twins, like the sisters, but his visage belied his true nature. Shrakmead had been cast out of his brother's palace many years before, and though he never allowed his face or tone to show it, he had grown to hate Ninthorio for it, for in that cold, dark vastness of eternity, he had seen true horrors, beings, he believed, far more powerful than he or his brother, who feasted upon all with which they came into contact. He had lived in fear of those strange beings, while his brother had sat safely in his kingdom.   And when those beings had finally come to Shrakmead's citidel, he offered them an exchange, fearing that otherwise would lead to his death. Shrakmead became as them, feasting on everything in his path, and now, here in his brother's sacred fortress, he would feast upon him, but not before he stole everything on him. And so, upon arriving at the glorious throne room and seeing Shia'ara with child, he began his work. Late at night, when Ninthorio slept, he would pull Shia'ara aside and speak to her about how he had always hoped that he would find someone who loved him, and how if he had ever had that opportunity, he could never take his gaze from such a person. For months, he kept this up, pointing out how even when Shia'ara was present, Ninthorio looked at no one but Luunala.   And then Valen was born. Valen, who looked much like his father, was a quiet child, and Shia'ara's love for him was unparalleled. She no longer cared for whom Ninthorio looked at, she was entirely devoted to her new son. Shrakmead feared, rightfully so, that this child would prevent him from completing his task, earning him the ire of those ravenous beasts he had encountered in the darkness and began devising a new plan. Valen was an obedient child, who, as he grew older, seemed to display a profound desire to be dutiful to his father, to ensure that all his father's wishes were met, but none-the-less, Ninthorio's gaze still rarely strayed from Luunala, and Shrakmead saw a new opportunity, one where he could tear away two from his brother's side.   In Ninthorio's absence, Shrakmead showed Valen his presence. He personally instructed Valen and helped him develop as he grew. Often times, he ensured Shia'ara was with the two of them, so that Ninthorio would be alone with Luunala for most days. And in the end, he plan worked. Soon Luunala was with child, and all this time, Shrakmead postulated to both Valen and Shia'ara about how he could not understand how, his brother, having professed his love to Shia'ara, could not turn his gaze from her sister. And how Valen, obedient and dutiful as he was to his father's whims, would not be given any attention by the man he hoped to appease.   The seed was planted and Shrakmead's plans came to fruition shortly after Valur was born. As Ninthorio had kept his gaze upon Luunala, so did he give it to Valur. Valen, infuriated, confronted Ninthorio about this, who had no explanation. Valen drew the sword that Shradmead had helped him forge and challenged Ninthorio, who accepted the challenge. Enraged at his delinquency, Ninthorio slew his son where he stood, before Valen could react. Shrakmead, having orchestrated the encounter, ensured Shia'ara was present just as her son was killed. She too attacked Ninthorio, but, being more powerful than Valen, Ninthorio could not dispatch her so easily. She overcame his might and knocked him to the ground, but before she could strike with her final blow, Shrakmead grabbed hold of her spear, for his brother could not be allowed such an easy escape from justice. Ninthorio seized the opportunity and, drawing from the last bit of his strength, banished them both from his kingdom.
