Shrewfly

The shrewfly is a cross between a butterfly and a hornet. They are usually harmless and don't pick fights. They have beautiful wings of all color and are big enough to admire from afar. Once they feel threatened, they are deadly. The Shrewflie's stinger is as long as its body and stays tucked underneath it. The stinger itself is dripping with an unusual venom. Instead of causing incredible pain, it is a powerful numbing agent. Harvested in a controlled environment the venom can be used as a very helpful medicine. But in a swarm, Shrewflies are fatal. Imagine a nest of them hanging out in an abandoned house or shake. You go in, looking for lost treasure or adventure. Feeling threatened, the swarm attacks. As you are running away, you feel your legs give up on you. The venom is so strong that you cant even feel the sting. You try to crawl but your arms also won't move. before you numbness takes you, all you see are the beautiful colors flying around you. No pain or anything, you just lie there as you feel your lungs stop moving or your heart stops beating. The Shrewfly is beautiful and cases of attacks are few and far between but that's because the locals know these insects are best admired from afar. Urban Legends have been invited to sway kids and teens away from these beautiful creatures but the few real life stories are also more graphic and terrifying than any made up. Like real life insects, the shrewflie's biggest weakness is the lack of oxygen. If exposed to smoke and fire, they become docile. If exposed for to smoke for too long they risk permanent damage but this makes it easy to harvest for their venom. The scariest part of of the shrewfly is their ability to sting over and over but they never lose their stinger. Its like being stabbed over and over but never feel the knife until your body shuts down.
